I have been searching for new wireless headphones for my PS3 for a very long time! I decided the only way I'd get what I want is to try a refurbished pair from Amazon. Fallout New Vegas is best with headphones, and I have been waiting to start another replay until i found a replacement for my original Sony Gold wireless headphones. What I received from Amazon today is a like new pair of headphones with all the cords and dongles needed to use and charge them. I charged them up and have been testing them for about two hours. They're perfect. They sound great and work with my PS3, and PS5. If the battery fails early I'll update this review, but it seems fine.     • Awesome pair of headphones
I bought these for my PS4 Pro because I needed a pair of wireless headphones in order to not disturb anyone around me while playing and still give me some oomph akin to a home theater setup. My OLED TV doesn't allow me to use regular bluetooth headphones while running in game mode (essential for low input lag) so my options were limited to what headphones I could use for my needs. These PS4 Golds looked like they fit the bill since they wirelessly connect directly to the PS4 instead of the TV, thus allowing me to play in game mode on the TV. Now I have to say I had my doubts about the quality in this price range and I own other headphones (non gaming) that cost much more but wow these sound very crisp and are very balanced in the highs, mids, and lows. It definitely punches above its weight in terms of sound quality. The bass (with bass boost enabled) sounds good but not over bearing. If you're a huge bass head these won't give you ultra deep earth shattering bass like a pair of Sony XB950b1's would, BUUUTTTT the bass is still quite strong on these PS4 Gold headphones, no complaints here. I used the newly released Doom Eternal as a test bed for these and wow I was blown away. Explosions have some real weight with good bass behind them, bullets sound crisp, demons/monsters sound truly intimidating and everything just sounds so clear without distortion. The 7.1 virtual sound is a nice addition and definitely is a decent substitute to an actual home theater audio system when you don't want to disturb anyone else. Of course it won't replace an actual 7.1 sound system but for a pair of headphones it's definitely good. I've tried the mic out and I have to say it's about average. The mic's sound quality is not horrible but it's not great either, it's merely adequate and it gets the job done. Overall I mostly play single player games so it's a non issue for me regardless if the mic is bad or great. The build quality is good, it doesn't seem like it would break easily. However it is mostly plastic so keep that in mind, it's not using any premium materials like aluminum or magnesium so long term durability is an unknown but I think they can last 4 to 5 years with good care. I did buy a refurbished unit but everything was included and looked brand new upon inspection. The only thing is that it did not come in it's original packaging, but it did come in an official "Sony refurbished box" so that's good enough for me and worth the cost savings over a brand new unit. Overall these are an excellent pair of gaming headphones if you own a PS4. For the price you can't do better. Let's put it like this, I definitely don't mind anymore that I cant use my more expensive headphones while gaming on my PS4, these Gold's hold their own against them and I'm quite happy with their performance. ... show more

I was a bit skeptical ,but item arrived as if new aside from the Sony refurbished box, came with all necessary cords. Was as simple as plug and play , just download the necessary headset companion app and select your presets. Battery life is as good as a new headset so no problems there, just make sure to give it a few full charges followed by full discharges. Comfortable , and well made . Can be used without power with the provided cord just with the loss of vss and noise cancelation which is understandable. Over all I would of given this 5 full stars but left at 4 when it came to sound quality in categories because of the mic , which is boomless which is nice ,but if you're looking to record or stream , play back of your own personal audio from the mic sounds a bit like you're talking through a paper cups at times ,and I've deduced this down to the fact of the hidden boomless mic. Otherwise you are still completely audible, just thought I'd mention for those looking record or stream and desire a higher mic quality, you might want to look elsewhere. Having owned the original gold headset I can say this is completely on far an identical aside from only one thing the lack of downloadable presets, both the original gold headset and this show on the companion app and after looking back at the original gold headset I see that it has more presets and don't understand why a lot of those weren't transferred over to the new. But other than all that the best part of this headset is being able to have a rocker or in game audio versus chat giving you another option that isn't available on most headsets, and as for being skeptical about buying refurbished I took a chance on this seller and was completely satisfied with my purchase, hope this helps. ... show more

I love these. They’re comfortable, the sound is not top quality but it’s on the better side for under $100. I do not have one single problem with this headset. The battery seems to last longer than they claim. We play in about 3-4 hour sessions at a time, I have charged it maybe twice, I’ve had it a month. Mic is clear according to my friends, very clear and crisp. I think PlayStation could do a little better on the companion app for the console, seems a little thrown together. I didn’t mess with it just left it as is and it’s great. My wife has an industrial piercing and they irritate it, even with her small ears. They do not seem to mess with her other piercings at all. So if you have an industrial I would not recommend this particular headset. ... show more
