    • Great hook except the safety catch broke!
I have a 15k warn g2 on my roll off trailer and it gets used several times a week. I went to this hook because the original that came on the winch was rated lower than 15k. Ok warn explain that! It also rubbed the trailer as I winches in dumpsters. The design of this smittybuilt had a lower profile and runs less plus rated higher than winch rating. This hook is great except they use aluminum safety catch and it snapped one of the sides and no longer safely engages allowing the hook to fall off the d ring of the dumpster under slack cable conditions. That means it's possible to lose control of a dumpster weighing 8k lbs. If it were me I would replace it with a steel safety gate, even when they get damaged they can be bent back into shape and remain functional. Not everyone uses their winch as much as I do but for me safety really counts and this one falls short a tad. Bought mine in April, failed in July. Winching 10-20 times a week average. ... show more

    • Almost perfect .... Almost
It’s a beast but nothing is perfect and for me this is no exception. For me perfect would have used a quick release pin rather than the retaining clip that is used on the Clevis pin. Reason being if I leave this hook connected to my Jeep it will be stolen within a short period. So I leave it in the back of my Jeep. In order to remove the clip you need a flat tip screw driver and a pair of pliers to put it back on. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but if it’s in the mud or in the dark and you drop the small retaining clip it would become a big deal fast. A simple quick release pin would resolve this but I don’t have the equipment to drill a hole thru the Clevis pin to install one. Just food for thought for the manufacturer. ... show more

The first thing I noticed is that the Delta Hook is bigger than I expected, which is a good thing. I've included a photo of it on the front of my Jeep for size comparison. I like the fact that it essentially has a handle for pulling line out. Also less expensive than a Factor55. PS...hope I never have to use it. ;-) ... show more

Can't say a whole lot for the latch. That was broken off the first time I used it. A little side pressure and away it flew. But the hook itself is wonderful.

    • Big hookers are the best.
This is great. It’s a lot bigger than I expected. That’s a good thing. It makes it easy to handle. It will still hook onto shackles, ropes, or chains. Also it makes your truck look better when parked at the mall.
