Features

  • FAST f/4 OPTICS: With a bright f/4 focal ratio, the Quattro Imaging Newtonian captures greater detail in a shorter exposure time
  • 2-INCH DUAL-SPEED CRAYFORD-STYLE FOCUSER: Never miss focus with this 2-inch dual- speed crayford style focuser
  • OVERSIZED SECONDARY MIRROR: All Quattro Newtonians use an oversized secondary mirror capable of illuminating both APS-C and full-frame DSLRs without vignetting
  • KNIFE-EDGE BAFFLES: Multiple knife-edge baffles minimize stray light from entering the optical tube and ruining your imaging or viewing experience
  • EVERYTHING YOU NEED: While most manufacturers make you pay extra, Sky-Watcher gives you everything you need right out of the box, including: tube rings, a Vixen-style dovetail, and an 8x50 straight-through finderscope and bracket
  • Max focal length: 800

Description

The Quattro Imaging Newtonian is one of the most affordable telescopes with a f/4 focal ratio. This astrograph is capable of producing an exposure 6x faster than any f/10 optical tube. Even pricey refractors have trouble reaching a focal ratio this fast. Using a faster optical tube will shorten the exposure time, giving you more time to photograph nebulae, clusters, and other deep sky objects. Like all Sky-Watcher reflectors, our Quattro Imaging Newtonian features aluminum- coated borosilicate mirrors with a quartz overcoat, producing 94% reflectivity. The optical system uses an oversized secondary mirror, providing greater illumination for DSLRs and CCDs using full-frame sensors. The optical tube is constructed with rolled steel, and features Sky- Watcher’s signature metal-flake Black Diamond finish on the exterior. The interior of the optical tube uses knife-edge baffles to absorb any stray light from ruining your images. As customary with all Sky-Watcher telescopes, a boat-load of accessories are bundled with the optical tube. First is a 2-inch dual-speed 10:1 focuser with included 1.25-inch eyepiece adapter, which provides flexibility for either 1.25-inch or 2-inch eyepieces. Also included are tube rings and a V-style dovetail plate, as well as a 9x50 finderscope. For photographers looking to create a flat field and eliminate vignetting, an optional coma corrector is available separately. Parabolic mirrors normally produce some aberrations around the edge of the field of view (coma), so this corrector is highly recommended for users with large imaging sensors and full- frame DSLRs.

  • Excellent Value For Money. Needs Other Gear For Optimum Use.
Style: 10" Quattro
Recommended for medium to advanced skill level. An amazing "light bucket." 10" mirror grabs every available photon for stunning DSO astrophotography. Internal light baffles help with light pollution, but a dew extender shield is recommended to make sure the only light you get is from space. Dew heaters recommended in humid environments on the primary and secondary mirrors. Comes with 8x50 spotter scope, rings and Vixen dovetail. Be aware the spotter inverts the view. If you look at the horizon through the spotter, the sky is below and the earth is above. Not an issue as there is no "up" in space and it finds stars without issue. Just takes you by surprise. Build quality is excellent. It is heavy and requires decent upper body strength to get it into / out of the mount. I use it with an EQ6-R Pro (which is twice the cost of the scope) and it is just under the weight limit of the mount. No issues with moving the scope, if balanced correctly on the mount with proper counterweights. You will need a decent quality laser collimator to align the mirrors. Before buying this make sure you understand the full amount of other gear you will need to run this effectively. Power supply, mount, dew heaters, collimator, cameras, cabling, filters (if mono camera) and lenses. If using this for astrophotography, understanding backfocus is critical for decent images. Do your research before purchasing to save yourself a lot of headache. It is worth it, but make an educated purchase. ... show more

  • Beast of a telescope!
Style: 8" Quattro
Fast and sharp! I use mine with the Starizona Nexus 0.75 and the Apertura 0.95 coma correctors. Worth every penny! I saved some $ by purchasing mine used on Amazon. I adjusted the spider vanes in order to get really sharp diffraction spikes on my stars and it has held up with no further adjustments needed. I use an AM5 mount with counter weights and it handles the scope just fine. The guiding averages 0.5 in calm conditions. Check out my image of M33 shot with ASI533MC Pro in bortle 7. ... show more

  • It comes from China so shipping takes a month.
Style: 8" Quattro
Overall score 4/5 Stars. 3/5 for Shipping. This rating is purely based on it's arrival. I love this telescope and I'm glad it arrived intact. It was delivered to me in a month's wait. Shipped from China and went directly to Celestron in NJ. Then shipped to out to Amazon distribution center in CA for the final ship leg over water to HI which only took 1 week. I had opted for the repackaging not to reveal contents of the item and also to for the extra protection. But that didn't happen. Maybe because the of the large box it comes with to begin with. The box arrived like it went through a gorilla inspection. The taped ends were half undone and there was a gaping hole big enough to put my fist through. When I first saw it I literally cringed inside. But to my surprise the telescope was unharmed. The telescope sits in a acrylic stiff foam cradle spaced about 3 inches from the outer box layer. All contents accessories were unharmed. Collimation was spot on but the back primary lockdown collimation screws were loose. I tightened them and it didn't change the collimation. I would give it a 5/5 rating but for the poor packaging and unwillingness to protect a costly item like this it deserves no more than a 3. And if it arrived damaged it would be a 2. The telescope itself is a 5! Overall score is a 4. ... show more

  • Awesome scope!
Style: 8" Quattro
This was my first newtonian for astrophotography and I was not disappointed. The attached photos were captured before taking the time to collimate (I did use the coma corrector purchased separately)

  • Did not come with a coma corrector.
Style: 10" Quattro
Arrived within 2 days of purchase shocking however did arrive with some superficial tears and indents on the box however scope was unscathed. I'd say by the hair of it's chinny chin chin. After a time with it I'm realizing the scope is not completely done being built. Thay are still using 1980s technology and charging 2024 prices for it. I do not recommend this scope for anyone that wants to push and play astronomy. I will need to flock it, replace the veins and paint the clips. ... show more
