  • Cheapo quality, but it works
I expected better. Maybe kids' alarm clocks are more expensive than I expected, and I expected too much for the price and cute design. The paint used to make the face is faded and one of the eyes was partially rubbed off right out of the package. The buttons are tough to press, so I have to press it then wiggle my finger to try to get it to register that I'm pressing it. Four AA batteries only keep it running for a few days. The red color for bed time is kind of ominous and scares my three year old, so he turns it off. Fortunately, it'll still turn green at wake up if he turns it off! The yellow and green are too similar, but it's not a huge deal because it only stays yellow for ten minutes. There's only one volume control, which controls both the nightlight soothing sound and the alarm that plays. So for example, I don't want to wake him up with an audio alarm (would be cool if he slept in) so I turned the volume all the way down, but that also disables the nightlight sounds, so we can't use those. There isn't an option to turn the audio alarm off if the volume is on. But overall, it works. I'm just bummed about the cheap quality because it's such a cute design. It only took my kid a day to figure out that green means you can go wake mommy up. We just don't use the sounds or nightlight. You'll DEFINITELY want to plug it in though, or you'll spend a fortune on batteries. Honestly, I might have returned this and tried something else if I didn't need it immediately, but it does work! ... show more

  • Love but needs work
I really like this but it does need some improvement. It has worked pretty well for my four-year-old who is in a rule following phase. Not so sure how well it would work for a two-year old who could care less about rules. My biggest complaint with this is the plug. I can’t stand the fact that it has a USB cord that is detachable along with the outlet plug. In order to put a safety cover over the outlet it was nearly impossible because of how far it sticks out with the outlet cord and a USB plugged into it. there should be the option of the USB OR a normal sized outlet plug to allow for a safety cover to be put over the outlet properly. Also I hate the fact that the cord detaches from the alarm clock because that’s a safety concern when you have a two-year-old running around who might simply unplug it from the clock and put it in his mouth to see what happens. My third and final complaint is that with one simple push of a button the alarm music comes on and I find this highly annoying because both of my kids want to keep the music on all of the time. It really takes away from the point of the clock which is not only when the light comes on to inform them of the time but also the music as a way to inform them. If the music is already on then the music won’t come on when the alarm goes off as a special alert. If some improvements were made I would be gung ho on this clock. It is certainly the cutest option on the market and goes great in my daughter’s room. ... show more

  • It worked! And my toddler loves it!
It took some getting used to at first (not shocking). It turns yellow BEFORE it turns green in the morning and those colors can be a little confusing to differentiate for a toddler. Not that my toddler doesn't know his colors, but I'd bet if you took a poll amongst adults who had never seen either of the colors there would be many answers that were off. They are just a little too close in color for them to mean 2 very different things for the purpose of this clock! Now, we still LOVE IT. But that is worth mentioning. Yellow means it's 'almost' time to get up (it turns this color wayyy before the waking time that you set). At first, he was getting up when the clock turned yellow, because he was thinking it was green and time to get up. But after he saw the differences enough times and he learned that there would also be a song to play when it was time to wake, he got the hang of it. He loves it and I love it even more! Finally he is out of the rut of waking up super early every morning and will sleep in later now! He also loves when it turns red and he races to get to bed when it let's him know it's almost bedtime! Amazing, especially for the price compared to the others that display and actual time (that my 3 year old would not be using anytime soon). So it was perfect for us to have a better sleep routine! My mom even bought one for her house for when he says the night there! ... show more

  • Simple and clear
We’ve tried several training clocks with our older kid and those can get pretty complicated both to set and use. Our younger kid was showing she needed this type of support and it was perfectly simple and clear for her. We just have to ask what color it is and she tells us what is supposed to be happening. (“It’s red, I go bed now.”) If you want a quality noise machine or music for bed, this isn’t it though. The music option just goes on and on… but honestly we have had the same issue with the other 2 training clocks. At least this is more simple. Cute too! I definitely prefer it to the type that shows time on the face or the ones that show a changing face for the different cues. Also, it’s simple color for glow isn’t overly bright (this was a problem for my older kid with the fancier clocks). Moral of the training clocks experience: simple is WAY better! ... show more
