Are Levi's made with magic? What can I say? Levi's jeans are perfection. They deliver exactly what they promise. They look great, wear great, and last forever. They deliver a consistantly high quality product, one I have enjoyed since I purchased my first pair at age 17. Got this pair -- at a fantastic price -- for my boyfriend when he said he needed new, dark wash, "nice" jeans for his new job. He is a building contractor (clothes always covered in mystery muck) as well as a comitted recycler. (Recycle, reuse, renew!) He doesn't buy anything new -- everything he owns, including ALL of his clothes come secondhand. While this is commendable, it's not usually (never) stylish. Dinners out on town? We have a choice of great restaurants in Austin, so, what'll be? Burgers or pizza? I thought maybe Levi's, their classic design as desireable now as ever, and their nearly indestructable construction offering years of rugged wear, would help justify this purchase, and, ease him through the discomfort of wearing a pair of brand new jeans. He's not used to putting on a crisp pair of ... anything. Nothing he owns was selected in his actual size to fit his frame. While these new jeans needed to have a dark wash and a casual, yet work-appropriate look, (i.e., not ripped, or super skinny, or adorned) I thought it mihht be best if they had a quietly new quality. They couldn't scream "pricey," or be too far out of character for my humble, eco-guy. I hoped I could get find some jeans that fit him, felt comfortable and sturdy, fit the need for "new," and, at the same time they wouldn't draw comments or compliments that put him on the spot. The right pair of jeans had to look like they had been hanging in his closet for years, on reserve for special occassions. If he walked on the job site in the new jeans and drew co-worker double-takes, back to the store they'd go. The new jeans had to look fresh without giving off that bright blue dye, right off-the-rack, menswear vibe. We all want to feel comfortable in our clothes. No one enjoys walking into a meeting wearing something that projects a disconnect to our self-image. Confidence starts with being unashamedly who you really are -- and, heading into new life experiences is easier with confidence firmly in place. This is a guy who thinks "new," equals wasteful, excessive, and just plain wrong. If the new jeans looked too good, too "new," then just one look in the mirror could make him feel bad about himself. If that happened, he might just squirm out of the new jeans -- and, sensing a conflict with his values, out of the new job, as well. So, I was a woman on a mission. How could I get him into something he could wear to work with confidence, and maybe even like enough to give him a boost? New, "original," or vintage style Levi's seemed to hit all the important marks. Even though Levi's don't cost as much as many leading brands, at $40-to-$100+, they are not cheap. Getting these at a great discount on Amazon.com got me over the "unecessary," expense hurdle. Plus, I was ready to argue that even at full retail, Levi's quality meets their price point. I was still afraid he'd think any "new" jeans were too flashy! This guy hasn't had a brand new pair of pants for at least 10 years! He only wears hand-me-downs from buddies (thank God for our gay men friends) or, discarded, "rediscovered," miscellany (trash). Well, today he asked me if I thought he could get away with wearing his new Levi's again -- for the third day in a row -- without washing them. Uhmm ... What could I say except, "Hell Yes!" I'm feeling exceptionally pleased with my purchase -- and myself. He LOVES the new Levi's. "Wow, THEY FIT, he said! "I look good in these!" he added in amazement, as he admired himself in the mirror, bewildered by the notion. "No holes, No rips" he whispered, his secret pleasure escaping under his breath. Apparently, when you get them right, "new," clothes feel great to everyone. Not that vintage and secondhand won't continue to rule his clothes rack. Thst night after he tried on the jeans, he pulled three new T-shirts I'd gotten him earlier that week out of the dirty clothes. He loaded them into the washer and dryer so they'd be fresh and ready to wear the next day, with his new jeans. Then he laid out a plan for his coming week's wardrobe. I almost fell off of my chair. I knew Levi's made great jeans, but I didn't realize they had made them magic. I recommend anyone in the market for a new pair of jeans grab a pair of these Levi's at this amazing price. Get one pair for yourself and another for your true love. They seem to have the power to transform. To my love I say, "You go, boy!" I'm glad my choice for your new pair of jeans met with your approval. I am delighted that these Levi's Signature style jeans made you feel good. You looked good, and I think you could see it. You are such a good person. I love you dearly and respect you, deeply. You deserve to look as fabulous on the outside as you are on the inside.
