  • Made specifically for the Dobro and other brands of resophonic guitar
  • Roller design
  • Aligns by touching the fret, not by eye, making it fast and accurate

Description

Unlike other Dobro capos that attach only to the strings, the Shubb clamps solidly to the neck to provide great tone. It uses the same patented locking action of our Shubb guitar capo, and it aligns by touching the fret, not by eye, making it fast and accurate. Precisely machined of brass and carefully hand assembled, a Shubb capo is manufactured without compromise. Simply holding one in your hand conveys a sense of quality. Snapping it solidly onto a guitar neck, and then removing it, all within about one second, will confirm its reputation for excellence.

  • Would have given 5 stars if they had given sizing information up front
Size: standard
Great capo! However, initial description did not mention that the standard version is only good for 3/8" string height. My Gold Tone dobro is 1/2" height, requiring a version that is only available direct from the manufacturer. Going to their website, the only alternative seemed to buy a new one, which, given the high price, didn't seem like a good alternative. I contacted them about only replacing one bat in the dobro. They thought that was a good alternative and I believe they now have that choice on their website. Once I swapped that part, it worked great! It was good working with Schubb, but it would have been even better if I had known the restrictions up front. ... show more

  • Well, it works.
Size: standard
I use this on a Gretsch Boxcar Dobro. Ooops, I meant to say Gretsch Boxcar resonator guitar, just to be selfish copyright correct. It does take a bit of understanding to be able to use it easily. As another reviewer stated, the brass piece needs to be slid across the fret under the strings with the rubber piece pressing the strings to it. This requires two things. You may have to guide the rubber part over the strings until the lower part is totally as far as it can go and the rubber piece makes contact with the highest string. Then you need to adjust the tension clip for the firmest holding and make sure it clicks into place. This gets a lot easier after you do it once. This is not your standard guitar type capo where you slap it into place and lock it. Square neck resonator guitars need a different style capo and this one seems to fit the bill just fine. So I am happy with it. ... show more

  • Great capo!!
Size: standard
I love this capo. It works great. It doesn't pull anything out of tune and it's really quick and easy to use. The only problem I have with it is when you want to capo to the key of A (2 frets from the nut) I really have to muscle it in as it's a little too tall to fit easily. It would probably work fine with a real dobro but my resonator is a guitar that has been converted to a dobro. The strings at the peghead end of the neck are closer to the fretboard than they are at the near end. Other than that, I am pleased. ... show more

  • Takes some Tinkering
Size: standard
I'm still working on being able to get it to work correctly. The basic mechanics are pretty straightforward, but my strings are a little too high off of the neck. It is a pretty simple problem and I am sure I will solve it...it just takes time. The quality is typical Shubb-Very High.

  • Valuable accessary for a squareneck guitar.
Size: standard
The capo is exactly as described. Trough one of the questions asked, I learned it was well suited to my Goldtone square-neck resonator. The capo comes setup for the smaller height of strings above the fretboard. There is a screw to release the bar and rotate it 90 degrees to achieve a bar suitable for the higher range of string height. At first I had some buzzing, but then I realized that the top bar with the rubber sleeve is meant to be set to the side of the brass bar (much like would you would do with a capo on a standard guitar). With that in mind, the capo works very well. ... show more

  • Lot less expensive and works good
Size: standard
I had to modify it slightly to fit my Rogue dobro which has a thick neck but it works fine. Also had to modify the Rogue nut to raise the action enough so the Shubb fits under. Lot less expensive than fit-on-the-strings dobro capos!

  • Works great for the Goldtone Beard model square neck dobro's
Size: standard
I was a bit hesitant to order due to some of the reviews but being that it was a Prime item; I figured I couldn't lose. I'm glad I did because the Beard,Wave and Sheerhorn capo's are so expensive. I'm sure they are great but this does the job on my Goldtone Beard dobro. I don't feel it would be that slow to employ on stage or in a jam once you have learned to use it. For me; I got the hang of it within 5 mins. Anyway; I don't think you will be disappointed. If your buying a round neck resonator guitar,a regular capo is what you want. ... show more
