Features

  • Superb quality, stylishly sleek design and utmost comfort and safety are blended together at the company thats as candid of its trustworthiness as the logo emblazoned on its forehead: Shoei is proud to deliver its latest iteration of the iconic flagship RF lineup, the RF-1400. The RF has been a staple bucket in the moto community since its first introduction in 1984, and years of R&D have led the evolution in safety, design, comfort, noise reduction and just all around good quality that only Shoei is prepared to provide.
  • The wind tunnel tests have refined the RFs aerodynamics and ventilation to help evolve the design forward. Shoei managed to wring out the RF1200s aerodynamics with a 4% reduction in drag and 6% reduction in lift. The compact, aerodynamic shell shape is made to maximize ventilation as air flows over you while doubling as the lightest SNELL approved full-face helmet in Shoeis new offerings. No rider wants to forfeit important characteristics that most lighter helmets compromise on, such as wind noise. But the RF-1400, while being the lightest in the lineup, leaves no room for earache with its new noise reduction technology.
  • The shape of the spoilered shell was designed in a wind tunnel and through that testing, Shoei was able to provide a quieter shell design while also tweaking the shape of the all new CWR-F2 shield system using their Vortex Generator technology to displace wind turbulence. An all new, airtight window beading system provides a windproof and waterproof seal so tight, youd think it was your turn to take a crack at opening the pickle jar. The RF-1400 also sports some more voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads to help soften the blow of wind noise.
  • Proprietary technology integrates a matrix of hand-laid interwoven layers of fiberglass and light-weight organic fibers to deliver a helmet that not only meets SNELL M2020 and DOT ratings, but is Shoeis strongest, most elastic shell providing the wearer with optimal impact absorption. Adding to that, the RF-1400 is lined with a dual layer of multi-density EPS foam liner that also aids in impact absorption and allows cool air to flow unrestricted through the channels created in the liner. The precise placement of the EPS material helped shape the RF-1400s compact, lightweight design.

  • Amazing quality helmet!!!
Size: Large Color: MATTE BLACK
I absolutely love my new RF-1400. I’ve got 3 other helmets and this one is, by far, the best in all aspects. Shoei definitely displays their experience and expertise when it comes to R&D. Extremely quiet at speeds up to 60 and still can clearly hear my Bluetooth speakers all the way to 100. Didn’t go faster, but no need. This is largely due to the perfect speaker pockets easily accessed by removing the factory (quality) foam plugs. The speaker pockets even have a notch for the wire to fit. The visor is crystal clear and despite the reviews I read prior to my purchase, I have very minimal difficulty opening it via the lock button even while wearing my very thick winter riding gloves. This revised version of the RF-1200 is nothing short of flawless in my personal opinion. BTW: I would like to make it very clear that I am a real customer, and I am not being paid (unfortunately) by anyone for this review. $500 is nothing to scoff at, however I feel that for what I received, it is absolutely worth the money. ... show more

  • A great helmet. Allow it some time to break in.
Size: Medium Color: MATTE BLACK
I'm just getting back to motorcycles after 40 years. I decided if I splurged on any gear at all, it would be the helmet. I did a ton of research and finally decided on this helmet. Shoei's reputation precedes itself, so I know the product itself was already great. I ordered a medium, and when I first slid -- CRAMMED-- it onto my noggin, I thought my skull would cave it after my eyes popped out. I ordered a medium, as my head is small (and, as my skull throbbed, it was evidence of a lack of brains as well) but I took few breaths and the pounding eased a bit. About ten minutes later I couldn't fee a single pressure point-- and, no, it's not because my head was numb. So, it needed a little break in time. After walking around the house with it on for half and hour at a time for a few days-- driving my wife nuts and scaring the cat-- it became quite comfortable. If I'd sent it back after the first try on, it would have been a huge mistake. It's still snug, but by no means uncomfortable. Grabbing the jaw and pulling from side to side, it doesn't budge an inch, but it doesn't pinch either. A sharp shake of the head, nodding like a headbanger, and the helmet doesn't shift an inch. Not even a quarter inch. The helmet is light, about three and a half pounds (I guess it's heavier than the RF 1200), and when it's on my head it by no means feels bulky and, now, not constrictive. My first impulse was to send it right back-- if I could ever get it off-- and order a large. I'm glad I didn't. It would have been a huge mistake. Now, I hope I never have to find out how well it works. But, if that event occurs, I'm very confident I made the right choice. ... show more

  • actually fits a large head
Size: XX-Large Color: MATTE BLACK
This was my third try for a helmet that fits. The helmet actually is XXlarge I have 7 3/4 inch hat size and finding hats that fit is hard enough but finding a helmet is beyond impossible. The fitting is snug but not compressing like others. I like the vent brings in the right amount of air to prevent sweating out. I wear sunglasses and vision is good. Also wear airbuds and only problem is when taking helmet off they tend to pop lose and fall to the ground. ... show more

  • Great Helmet!
Size: Large Color: WHITE
There have many reviews of this helmet so I am going to stick to what things I found. I wear a large in each of the Shoei helmets I have. This one is no exception though as my first full face, I found the fit to be really snug. Not uncomfortable mind you, but SNUG. It's a bit of a process to get it on, again, not problematic in any way, but nonetheless a process. I find the field of vision to be no less than any of the open face Shoeis I have owned. The visor when down, cuts noise noticeably, but in warm/hot weather as in above 80 degrees, makes the helmet warmer. I generally wear a skull cap under the helmet to wick away perspiration and that helps. Ventilation is certainly adequate, but it's not like the thing is going to be air conditioned. I tried the chin screen and found that it wanted to hang up on my nose when removing the helmet so I removed it completely. Others may have different experiences. Mounting my intercom headset presented come challenges. I have a GL 1800 and use the bike's existing intercom system. The cutouts in the helmet seem a bit small for the speakers which came with the IMC Motocom intercom system I use. When I first mounted the speakers into the cutouts they pushed against my ears and I think this stems from the snug fit of the helmet. I skirted that issue by cutting up the round selfsticking velcro mounts for the speakers and making smaller pieces which I was able to put down into the cutouts and pressed the speakers down into the cutouts. That maneuver helped and essentially resolved the problem of the speakers pressing against my ears. The newer bluetooth communication setups may have smaller speaker which may fit into those helmet cutouts so you may not have the issue I had. A Pinlock antifog panel comes with the helmet and will eliminate any cold weather fogging. The Shoei RF-1400 is pricey, but I feel safer in a full face and the comfort, fit, and finish is there. Good buy and no regrets! ... show more

  • Not a Shoei helmet
Size: Small Color: BLACK
They sent a chinese knockoff helmet with virtually zero padding. The entire helmet is flimsy like one you would buy for a halloween costume. It does not have any of the emergency pull tabs. No crash rating. The shoei stickers are crumpled up and have air bubbles all in them. The front face shield is scratched to pieces and bent. The shield is attached by a giant plastic rivot. The airflow pieces don't stay open/closed and are very loose and in the wrong places compared to what the 1400 should have ... show more

  • Outstanding helmet.
Size: Large Color: MATTE BLACK
I recently upgraded to the 1400 for track days as well as commuting. This helmet is awesome. I didn't know if I'd find the new center latching button to be problematic, but I don't even notice it anymore. Super easy to use and open with either hand. Venting is good, the entry is snug, and the overall weight is low. Very comfy. ... show more

  • Nice just not for me
Size: Large Color: BASALT GREY
Great looking helmet but way to tight on my cheeks. Ended up with an Arai. Both companies make bad ass equipment, recommended to try a few.
