When you open The Beauty Book, three distinct panels reveal kick off your next adventure. The first panel (prelude) includes 12 pigmented lipsticks of different opacities. In the middle of the interlude are three true-to-color blushes in baby pink, choral, and hot pink. All three blushes are buildable with a matte finish. The bottom third of the interlude has a 5 inches by 1 inch mirror with two face powders for light complexions. In the middle of The Beauty Book is the body. You’ll find: two pencil eye liners (black and brown), one liquid eye liner (black), one dual ended brow brush and spooley, and three dual ended eye shadow sponge applicators. The bottom section include three dual lip and blush creams with two synthetic brush applicators. How could we wrap up the perfect book? In the boldest way possible! The panel (Finale) has 26 pigmented eye shadows with jewel and neutral shades. Each eye shadow is pigmented and has a pearl or shimmer finish. I purchased this for my 12 year old sister's birthday! My little sister is very into make up & with her getting older I wanted to get her a set that I knew would be good. I own some Shany products myself, & I have never been disappointed by anything they have released (gel eye liner, eye shadows, lip sticks). I chose this particular kit because it is smaller, but has a variety of eye shadows, as well as a few blushes & face powders. Shany produces good quality cosmetics at an affordable price & I feel like this is the perfect set for a young girl (or someone traveling). The eye shadows & blushes have nice pigmentation, unlike other inexpensive alternatives, you don't have apply gobs of these cosmetics to get the color you are hoping to achieve. The colors that come in this particular set are very beautiful & vibrant, which I love. Also, these eye shadows are very easy to blend, you don't have to worry about having a harsh line because they are so overwhelmingly easy to work with. It states in the title and several places in the description that this comes with 48 eyeshadow, 4 blush, and 2 face powders. There isn't any face powder anywhere within what I received, which is annoying because that's why I bought this particular set. I wanted something all inclusive for my daughter to practice with. That said, it looks nice enough. Nothing arrived broken. Good packaging. The top latch was impossible for me to open, so that wasn't ideal for any age. Update: My daughter had a lot better luck opening the front latch when her smaller fingers, however one of the back hinges broke on the first day she had the thing. She's 11 and I was watching her open it and she didn't overextend the lid or anything. The hinge is still attached to the lid, there's just no way for it to snap into the base. A container redesign seems in order. ... show more

I've been buying Shany for years. I've tried "high end" expensive products from Sephora and Ulta with little success. Shany has never let me down. The eyeshadows are pigmented and don't dry out. The eyeliners/lip pencils are versatile and go on smoothly. The lipsticks don't irritate my sensitive skin. The huge array of colors go with many skin tones and I appreciate that my friends and I can swap colors if something doesn't go well for one of us.
