I used to hate it when my parents would talk about "back in the day" or "in the old days"..... But now I find myself thinking about "back in the day" when you could go to the corner grocery store and ask for a wooden crate and they would GIVE it to you, FREE. You could use the crate for storage of a multitude of items. Of course they were full of splinters, so a sanding job was in order. And they were all a "cardboard brown" color, so painting or staining was necessary. Today you can't even find a wooden crate in the store. They "reuse" and "recycle" everything through the store itself. So I was surprised and excited to see wooden crates for sell. I was even more excited when I opened the box! The crates were beautifully packed for shipping, and they nestled inside one another perfectly. There were no splinters! The finish is smooth as glass, so smooth that I re-read the seller's description to verify that it said they are wooden. And even hand made! The color is unusual, variegated light/dark, and so attractive. Each crate has a hand holder cut out of each side so they are easy to transport if you have something in them. They are sturdy and you could easily fill them with something heavy that you needed to carry without worrying. I put magazines in one, and set it in the living room. For now, the second size has cat toys stored in it, also in the living room. The third, and smallest, has two little potted African violets in them, in full display in the dining room. I'm sure I will find other uses for these beautiful crates but I wanted to immediately enjoy them. The cat toys may be delegated back to the basket they were originally in and that crate may be filled with gourmet snacks for a Christmas gift next year. And how about an "Easter crate" instead of an "Easter basket"? These are not your usual fruit and veggie crates, although they remind me of when we used to be able to get them and what we used them for. I highly recommend these. They are beautiful and anyone could immediately think of several uses for them.

These nesting wooden boxes are sturdy and well made. I decided to paint mine with a white wash and then mount them on the wall. I can imagine them used as storage in a pantry or decorative living room storage.

These decorative crates are very nice! The joints are well fitted, the "burned finish" looks very nice and is not overdone, and the bare wood is sanded nice and smooth. The bare wood can be left as-is for a natural look, or one can easily add their own finish if desired. Two types of metal hardware is included: - Metal corner braces for that classic, rustic look. - Mounting hardware so these can be placed on a wall for the "HGTV" look. Likes: - Beautiful design. - Beautifully fitted and sturdy. - Hardware included. Dislikes: - Smallest is a rather small -- just be aware of the sizes. Although decorative, these are definitely sturdy enough to be functional as well. A little costly if you're buying strictly for function. As a beautiful design element that can also be functional, these are a good bargain!

I love these little crates! The possibilities are endless! Despite the lightness of the crates, they're very sturdy. I love the dynamic colors. As you can see, each crate has its own unique look, so just by rotating or flipping them around, you can have a whole new look! They're about the size of a shoebox, but they are nesting boxes, so incrementally bigger. Great addition to any room.

I got these for my chickens for nesting. They worked for a little while, but then broke. The hooks aren't super easy to install, doable but frustrating. These would be good decorations. Not really functional for anything.
