This blouse has that classic pirate/peasant-style look with flowing sleeves and a gathered neckline. The fabric is lightweight but not sheer, and it drapes nicely for a costume or casual renaissance-fair outing. The sizing is fairly accurate, and the black color holds well after washing without fading right away. It’s not going to feel like high-end historical garb, but for the price, it hits the right aesthetic. The elastic at the cuffs can be a little snug if you have larger forearms, but otherwise comfort is decent. A versatile piece if you want something that can double between a costume and everyday wear with the right accessories.

For reference, I typically wear a teen size S or XS and a 32B bra, I’m 5’4, 110 pounds, with 32-25-38 measurements, and I have the Theatrical Romantic Kibbe body type. I ordered this top in a size S in the color “Green.” The green looks very moss or forest green in person, looking slightly less rich (or avocado green) than it appears in the product images on my device screen, though it’s gorgeous regardless. It features a hidden zipper that starts a few inches from the bottom and runs up to the armpit on the left side. But because the back half of the waistband has so much stretch, I don’t have to activate the zipper to pull this top over my head with reasonable ease. The waistband’s design has no stretch in the front, though, so it manages to effectively cinch to meet my waist and highlight my curvy silhouette without feeling uncomfortably tight at all. The waistband even offers a bit of support under my braless breasts, which fit quite well in this top, as there’s only a little extra looseness in the bust area that looks just fine. With a padded bra on, I fill this top up completely and can rock some modest cleavage. Lengthwise, this top reaches past my hips and covers the top half of my butt. Despite the risky shape, I don’t look pregnant at all when I wear this. And the sleeves, which reach down to my knuckles, are absolutely fabulous. There’s a slit that exposes the upper arm and pinches closed at the outer elbow. These sleeves feel neither tight nor baggy around my upper arms. Then, the sleeves are slit completely open from the elbow to the hand. That means they look almost like standard bell sleeves when I have my arms down at my sides, but when I lift my arms up, the sleeves fall out of the way to full expose my forearms. It looks incredibly elegant, and it’s super convenient too. The main material of this top is soft, flowing, and comfortable. It feels high-quality, and it can exhibit some light stretch. It’s not so thin that it’s see-thru in this color, having at least a double layer over the bust, yet it’s not so thick that it feels overly warm. Finally, all of the finer details look perfect, such as the stunning pattern that makes up the front waistband, and even the lace-up portion at the top, which can be adjusted as needed or desired. Overall, this is an absolutely perfect top in every way, and I definitely recommend it!

This is such a fun top! I love the sleeves! This top is very lightweight, sheer, polyester chiffon which is soft to touch and feels gentle on my skin. It is polyester, which doesn’t ‘breath’ but it’s airy enough that I didn’t mind. I didn’t notice it has a side zipper until after I’d taken it off! That would have made putting it on easier as I had a degree of difficulty pulling on over my head & then pulling it down over my bust and smoothing out the peplum. Big DUH for me! The addition of a zipper was very thoughtful and elevates my feelings toward the manufacturer & the shirt in general. As I said, the blouse is sheer, however it’s double layered over the chest so no peeking through there. It’s quite comfortable. The length is good although I prefer my shirts even longer. It has a big enough peplum too so it’s smooth and drapes over my waist and hips instead of sticking out. The scoop neckline isn’t revealing by my standards and is appropriate for modest wearing. The tie makes it somewhat adjustable and easily accommodates bustlines from small to very generous simply by lacing tighter or looser. It looks good either way, in my opinion. But the real appeal of this blouse comes from the sleeves! They’re a showstopper! Made from single-ply chiffon, they have a dramatically wide cut ending in a sharp ‘fishtail’ that drapes just below the cuff. A midsection is closed so the sleeve continues to fall on the arm in 2 sections reminiscent of a Pirate’s Shirt design. The chiffon is feather-light and moves gracefully as you walk about and move your arms. Definitely attention getting and fun for the wearer to play around with. The construction is fine, no loose threads or crooked seams and the smocked waist holds very well. I used the size chart contained in the listing and chose size XXL which was spot-on. For reference, I’m 5’4”, 180, 45/36/46 and in my 60s. In my opinion, this shirt is suitable for most body types due to the flexibility in the lace-up bodice and smocked waist. It’s appropriate for any age if you don’t object to the attention wearing this will garner. It’s pretty, fun and flirtatious! I would consider buying again if a different color. I hope my honest review was helpful!

I found this to be pretty flattering even with my curves and tummy. It cinches in around the waist quite nicely, the knit pattern in the front and elastic across the back. There is a zipper up the side. Due to my larger chest the knit on the front did kind of tuck under a bit but otherwise fit great. It doesn't completely hide my tummy but I still felt very comfortable in public and not like I was showing off all my lumps/bumps. I love the sleeves, they are open but close in at the elbow which I find to be very nice and good for hiding my thicker, mature, upper arms, so kudos for that! The color is dark and rich and lovely. The top can be tied as tight as you want to show off a bunch or keep it more modest. This top has gone through a normal wash and dry without issue and I did not need to iron it, good to go. The flow of the bottom and bell sleeve is so pretty! I'm about 160lbs for reference.
