Sand beaches in MI along Lake Michigan. Not sticking to towel helps it feel soft er and warmer because it dries faster. It is easier on you home washer equipment by not sending sand into it during cleaning process.

After seeing so many ads in my news feed for this towel, and not wanting to justify the high price, I finally caved and bought a Sand Cloud Turkish Beach towel and WOW! What an incredibly soft towel right from the beginning. I have only used this at the beach on my chair for sunning and hanging however I have not tested it for a drying off towel yet. Got this for a trip to Hawaii and it was great! It's very sand repellant. It kept a sort of weird smell after repeated beach use and no washing for a few days. Dries relatively quickly. Easy to pack. It's absorbent enough to get mostly dry and walk around after swimming but if you're looking for something that will get you really dry, not the best option. I'll take the absorbency tradeoff to not deal with the sand and bulkiness of terrycloth. My biggest annoyance with this towel is that when I washed it with swimsuits, the suits got covered in fuzz from the towel. Still haven't managed to get it all off. ... show more

I got these as a gift for me and my sister to go to Florida with. They were amazing, sand free is not a lie. If you're looking for plush, you have to wash them a bunch and even then, they're thin af. But the make a nice blanket, a nice cover, and a truly sand free towel.
