Classic and not overwhelming

I really like this perfume. It has a clean, crisp scent with just a little bit of sweetness to it. It isn’t overpowering at all, which I really appreciate because I don’t like perfumes that are too heavy. It actually reminds me of those perfume samples that used to (maybe still) come in magazines. I always seemed to love the smell of those, but could never match up the in store version with the sample version. This gives me that same kind of fresh, slightly sweet scent. It smells really nice and is easy to wear without feeling like too much. I feel like I go nose blind to perfume pretty quickly, so I cannot speak much to the longevity quite yet. But I feel like spraying directly onto your clothes before putting on helps it to last longer, at least for me.

A Surprisingly Refined Nostalgic Fragrance

Sam Edelman Duet is a fragrance that immediately gives off a sense of familiarity, but not in a tired or dated way. It feels like a polished return to an era where fragrances could be soft, clean, and effortlessly attractive without needing to announce themselves. The opening is where Duet makes its first impression. There is a juicy, sparkling quality that gives the fragrance a bright and inviting lift. It has an initial floral presence that may lean more traditionally feminine at first, but it quickly begins to shift into something much more interesting: a warm, sun-kissed skin scent with a soft, freshly moisturized feel. The evolution is where this fragrance really shines. It moves away from that initial floral brightness and settles into a beautifully refined blend of warmth, softness, and subtle sweetness. There is a creamy quality here, but importantly, it never becomes lactonic or heavy. It has that smooth, lotion-like skin comfort without ever feeling cheap, artificial, or like a generic body product. That balance is probably the most impressive thing about Duet. It captures the feeling of warm skin, sunlight, and a carefully chosen fragrance applied after getting ready for the day. It feels youthful in the sense that it carries some of the spirit of the early 2000s and the Y2K era, but it also has enough polish and refinement to keep it from feeling immature. The performance is the one area where Duet leaves something to be desired. The fragrance smells fantastic, but it does not have the longevity or presence that some people may hope for. The opening is its strongest moment, and while the dry down is genuinely beautiful, it becomes much softer and more intimate rather quickly. That said, the softer nature is also part of its charm. Duet is not a fragrance that tries to overpower a room. It is more of a personal, close-to-the-skin experience — the kind of scent that creates a pleasant impression when someone is near you rather than announcing itself from across the room. Overall, Sam Edelman Duet is a surprisingly well-crafted fragrance. It is juicy, sparkling, floral, softly creamy, and warm without ever becoming excessive. It has a nostalgic quality, a refined finish, and a sense of comfort that makes it easy to enjoy. For me personally, it is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I enjoy wearing it, but I can also easily imagine it being even more beautiful on someone else, especially because of the way it interacts with skin. It feels like a fragrance designed to complement natural warmth rather than compete with it. A beautiful, subtle, and polished scent that sacrifices power for elegance — and succeeds because of it.

Lovely scent, highly portable

Lovely. Great smell, fabulous packaging, perfect for travel. I love everything about this Eau De Parfum. It has a very light, refreshing floral smell to it, with great staying power. I particularly like that it is not over powering - most perfumes give me a headache but this one was easy to wear, totally inoffensive, and still with me hours after the initial application. I really love the bottle. There's something terribly elegant about the elongated skinny bottle. It feels great in hand, and is very feminine and I particularly love the choice of rose gold for the cap. It presents as something more special than every day and would make a lovely gift because of that. It will be super easy to travel with, a dream to pack, taking up next to no room at all in my cosmetic bag. And, at less than half an ounce it would barely register with TSA as a liquid! It's a perfect little Eau de Parfum which I will enjoy wearing, and traveling with. And I'm hoping to buy more to gift to my friends during the holiday season.

Versatile, Sweet Floral Fruity Perfume With Great Staying Power

I really like the Sam Edelman Duet Eau de Parfum Spray. It is one of those versatile perfumes that can easily be worn casually during the day or dressed up for an elegant night out. I could also see this working well for a romantic occasion and in any season. To me, it is a sweet floral fragrance with fruity highlights. I notice more pear than mandarin, along with a little zing and a deeper, lower note that keeps it from being simply a sweet floral scent. The combination makes it interesting and very wearable. The staying power is also quite good. It gradually becomes softer and more subtle, but I can still catch whiffs of it about an hour after applying it while doing normal activities. After several hours, I do need to smell the areas where I applied it to notice the fragrance, but it is still there. The small 0.34 fl oz bottle is very convenient for taking with me. I also like the thin glass bottle. It has an understated elegance that looks more sophisticated than something designed simply for travel. For a designer perfume that smells this good, I feel the price point is reasonable. This has quickly become one of my new favorites, and I would definitely recommend it. I rated it 5 stars.

Pleasant, but nothing memorable

This is a pleasant fragrance, but unfortunately it doesn’t stand out to me. The scent feels very familiar and basic, with some light floral notes and a touch of freshness, but nothing particularly distinctive or memorable. It’s easy to wear and not overpowering, so I can see it being a nice choice for someone who prefers simple everyday fragrances. Personally, I look for a perfume with more character, something that makes me stop and wonder what someone is wearing. I just didn’t get that from this one. Travel size is convenient to carry, but when it comes to the actual fragrance, I was hoping for something more unique. With so many perfumes starting to smell similar, this one unfortunately blends in rather than standing out. 3 stars for me.

Lovely scent, not overpowering; could use more secure packaging

I hate scents that are too "perfumey," you know, the "old lady perfume" overpowering kind of scent. So I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this. But I am so relieved and pleasantly surprised: this scent is just lovely. "Perfumey" enough to be noticed, but not heavy. The fragrance is light but not too light. Just right. What's immediately noticeable is the base scent. I couldn't make out what that is, but it's earthy, combined with a floral scent. When I looked at the product description later, it described the scent as mandarin, gardenia, and cedarwood. Ah. I was close, though I can't say I can detect the citrus scent. I'm sure it's because it was blended in with the other scents. The fragrance is stored in a slim glass bottle with a convenient spray. The spray is a perfect mist, doesn't leave any large droplets. I've only tested this out on my wrist/forearm and neck. Seems to last about 5 hours or so, which is pretty typical of eau de parfum. But this is definitely a portable, lightweight bottle, so you can take it with you on the go to refresh the scent as you wish. At $32 for .34 fl oz, this is not cheap, though not the most expensive. But given the nice quality, it's definitely worth it. The only minor critique I have is the packaging: the box is not wrapped in plastic. There is no sticker seal on the box or on the perfume cap itself. Who knows if the box may have been opened and spritz once or twice by someone handling the package?? I could swear a few drops look to be missing. They need to tamper proof the packaging.

Subtle scent that works well in professional settings

Sometimes perfumes can have a noticeable alcohol smell, but I don't find that particularly noticeable with this one. The fragrance itself is also fairly subtle. You generally need to be close to the person wearing it to really notice it, which I personally prefer over fragrances that you can smell from across a room or that linger long after someone has left. That makes this especially suitable for a professional or workplace setting. I got the 0.34 oz size, and it's great for travel or carrying in a purse or bag. The cap feels secure, and I wouldn't be particularly concerned about it accidentally coming off or the bottle leaking while carrying it around. The only problem I encountered was with the sprayer. When I first started using it, I had difficulty getting it to spray at all. I eventually removed the top and carefully put it back on, which fixed the problem, although for a moment I thought I might have broken it. If you experience the same issue, reseating the top may help. Aside from that initial issue, it has worked well. If you prefer a more subtle fragrance that isn't overpowering and want something compact enough to carry with you, this is a nice option.
