Right out of the box these shoes fit me just right (after a lot of research of different types of trail running shoes and trying on a number of top-rated brands). My first outing was a combination of rocky, slippery with wet leaves, and rather steep (approx 5 miles round trip) and these shoes handled all comfortably. I didn't need any time to "break them in" either. One note is that, as suggested, I went a half size down from my usual size and that was the best fit for me. Very happy with these shoes.

Nice light weight. I plan to walk inside and see if the tongue softens agains my ankle. It feels doable with higher ankle socks, not having the tongue next to my skin. I did keep them but continue to be disappointed due to the upper stiffness and skinny tongue, not soft. Wish I had returned. My old ones still work and I would pay more to have the comfort of X ULTRA it’s an A+. Everything about it felt comfortable plus looks really good to boot! I walk or hike about 3-5 miles a day! A WOW!

I had a horrible time finding boots or shoes to hike in. Ah yes!! Someone suggested trail running shoes and the rest is history. I LOVE these shoes and I am hella picky with my exercise/hiking stuff. True to size snd great for wide toe box needs with some arch support.
