Update: I have discovered that I need to manually push down on the lace locking system. At least that worked for today's run. I have added three stars back (for a total rating of 4 stars). Original post: These shoes have a unique lace system; a small wire like cord that continuously loops from the toe of the shoe through all of the eyelets. Simply pull on the lace and slide a holding device down to lock into place for the run. The locking mechanism failed on my fourth run!!!! I have been buying this shoe for years. It fits my wide foot perfectly. Great for trail running on snow or in the rain. I have the non-Gore-Tex model for summer since this one is too hot when the temps rise. Highly recommended.

    • Sizing off! And wasn’t given coupon discount when I had to change sizes
So I’ve had the older version of these for about 10 years now. Fabulous. Amazing shoes. Hence why I finally bought a new pair. I’m normally a 6.5-7. My last pair was a 7. When I received the 6 put them on they were huge. I doubled check led online that I had ordered women’s. Yup ordered women’s. Put them up to my old shoe and they were the exact same size. So had to return and go down to 5.5. I had a $15 coupon that was offered in checkout for the first ones. All I did was return and exchange sizes. (Amazon wardrobe) And I was charged full price after my 7 days! No coupon. Immediately took these in a 4 day backpacking excursion into backcountry… they slipped snd rubbed my heel the entire time and I got blisters. So they were still too big! But then it was too late to return them, and now they are dirty. I have been such a fan of Salomon for so long and they have always held up for me in so many conditions. But I am truly disappointed by this experience and this shoe. I don’t understand how their sizes could be so incredibly off. ... show more

been happily fitted to LaSportiva Wildcats trail shoes the past decade and thought i'd try another brand. Salomon makes high quality gear. love the colors of navy, maroon, and sage but had to double check whether i ordered mens or womens b/c the fit is off. these are too long by .5" - .75", more like mens shoes would be. and i find they have a more pronounced heel cup that doesn't cradle my foot correctly. they felt quite flat, despite being well cushioned. just an odd fitting shoe. the waterproofing is remarkable at the toes and sides, but the fabrc around the ankle is not, which allows water into the shoe and keeps your ankle damp. if i wore socks, this would be a deal breaker. but still getting stinky after 3 damp grass dog walks. wondering what type foot does work in them - maybe narrow, no arches, long toes? i'm average width, wide (right only), and high arches. so that could be why the feel off. just can't see running in them with them feeling this odd just to walk about but will update the review if so. ... show more

These are the best hiking shoes I’ve ever owned! The traction is great and they are very comfortable. I was skeptical of the quick lace system but it seems to be very sturdy and super easy to use. Merrill used to be my go-to hiking shoe brand but now that I’ve tried Salomons, I’ll never go back! Awesome shoe! ... show more

This is the 5th hike since they were bought. It never fail for their intended used since the first day .All types of path had been walked by these shoes (muddy, rocky, sandy, pavement, name it) . It passed the test and most of all we have happy feet. ‘Will recommend these shoes for sure to anyone.
