These are great shoes, but they have suffered in quality: -stitching as well as glue used on speedcross 4s between the rubbery "trim" on the shoes exterior and the breathable fabric over the toebox has been supplanted with a poor quality, inconsistently applied glue. One shoe in a pair has completely seperated. -Overtightening the lacing system in any one region can break a loop when the shoe flexes, rendering the shoe instantly a useless loose slipper (I used thin aluminum wire to secure it to my feet and complete the hike). This is unacceptable. Avoidable if you know about the problem, but salomon has graciously failed to inform us that their "cheapening for profits" process might kill a few hikers who don't. -The soles now detach, leaving the rubber impregnated scuff protection materials edge exposed to rocks and sticks. This quickly detaches and the shoe starts to fall apart. I started in 2016 or 2017 with speedcross 4s. They had none of these problems. One of my pairs has been through 3 sets of insoles, has no cleats/lugs left to speak of and is absolutely fine. It survived bushwhacking to bubble lake in CO, a 1.02 million step month on asphalt and lots of trail running. The speedcross 5s begin to fall apart within one or two rock-heavy hikes. The solution for people who must continue wearing speedcrosses but don't want to fund the wealth extraction of yet another snakey company? Superglue and shoe goo. Superglue the seams, shoe goo over the boundary of sole/shoe body and then superglue the cured shooe goo back on the fabric once it cures and seperates after a few days. As far as I can tell this brings them back up to speedcross 4 durability and only needs reapplication once or twice in the shoes lifespan. Anyway weird review but it took me a long time to find that combo (superglue alone doesnt cut it and shoe goo doesn't maintain a bond without the superglue) and I hope it helps other fans of this great shoe design.

I understand these shoes may not fit people with wide feet and for that... hope you find a decent alternative. I am on my 3rd or 4th pair of Salomon Speed Cross shoes. First pair was quite different than these but was impressive enough to compel me to buy replacements. First off - these are flexible soles and may not be best for long treks. That said... my hikes are usually 6 miles or less and for that purpose they excel. Super soft soles are very grippy in everything from sand to loose shale to mud... when new. BUT.. these will wear out quickly on pavement and concrete. So don't wear them to go shopping or for fashion. The soles will quickly become smooth on hard surfaces. I am no longer a trail runner (maybe just a little sometimes at 60 YO) but I think these shoes would be excellent for those that are. When new.. the shoes are very confidence inspiring in all terrains. Maybe a bit of a luxury purchase but if you dont care about color you can get a good price on these. Size runs true. Expect Medium width.

You will never get tired wearing this shoe 👟 It supports all your foot and not only the bottom. On high grass surfaces it grips the ground surface due its high prong on the sole. When walking 🚶🏿 you feel lighter due to less surface area on the floor. Highly recommend.

This is the second pair of these shoes I’ve owned. I use them for orienteering, trail running and hiking. They work well for me but they are very knobby. If you tend to drag your toe, it will catch on a lot of stuff. Additionally, these are terrible for anything other than off-road. On hard surfaces they will probably cause you to slip and/or roll an ankle.

Nice shoes for walking and hiking. I even use them for running and cycling. They look good, fit well and so far they are holding up and seem to be well made. Have had them about a month and they are being used regularly for my activities.

Very comfortable upon first trying them on. Felt as though I could easily go for a long hike straight away. Definitely like this brand. Going to use these to run in the woods and do some fall hunting in. Definitely happy for the purchase and will buy again.

I have been using Salomon Speedcross 4 and 5 wide for many years and am extremely happy with it. However I purchased Speedcross 6 and was not happy with it at all. I was in the middle of the trail race and we had to cross water. As soon as the shoes got wet it started bothering my toes. It seems that they have changed the material. I hope Salomon stayed with the Version 4 and 5 or at least do not change anything if it works. Just my two cents and heads up.

Shoes run true to normal size shoes. These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I own and I’ve tried most of the other major brands, the only con is a lack of ankle support on some tougher trails(But I just bring my boots if the trail is going to be challenging).
