  • good product
Drill press works great!

  • eh....
The only things I did not like was the laser light is way off of center and is fixed into position and I had to tighten pretty much every but and bolt. Other than that, it gets the job done.

  • Worth the $$$ spend more $$$ if you want more
It's 199.00. Why are people disappointed when they are comparing it to a 500.0 unit? It literally makes no sense. Why did you buy the Ryobi then? Oh, you didn't have $500! This press is worth every penny. Of course it's not gonna be as accurate and robust as something twice the price! Yes it has composite pulleys instead of metal. Why? To get the cost down for those that don't use this tool everyday for a living. Price points are there for a reason. If you only have $200, and want not need a drill press, get this one! And OMG, they (Ryobi) has one of the best warranty departments out their! ... show more

  • Great Unit for the Cost!!
Don't know about the pulley issue that people have been mentioning in some reviews. I have used mine for three years solid and no issues. For the money this is a good unit. What do people expect for the cost of this unit. Go and buy a Jet for $500 if you want better. All in all, this is a great starter unit and can be used for most home jobs and needs. No problems with this unit to date! ... show more

  • Average 1/2" chuck, average 5" swing, average power.
This is a "get you by" drill press. Look for it on sale, since price is the only deciding factor at this level of product. It will do pretty much anything that your hobby will require. It isn't a professional level tool. I bought mine on a very good sale, because I needed a drill press for my electronics prototyping work. That is my hobby. I build stereo amplifiers, DACs, phono pre-amps, etc. from parts sold on eBay, Amazon, local hardware stores, and like that. This is enough for a hobby like mine. My neighbor is a retired machinist. He works to the 10 thousandths of an inch. He thinks it is a joke. Then again, he has an industrial lathe in his garage, and Starrett micrometers and dial test indicators. ... show more

  • All these 10 in. drill presses need METAL PULLEYS instead of composite.
I've had my Ryobi 10" benchtop drill press for many years. Not sure what model it is but all these Ryobi models have the exact same issue. The composite pulleys that they come with are not strong enough and eventually the motor will spin the pulley in the belt and the belt will cut right through the pulley. I've already gone through four pulleys on mine due to this problem. I've checked every model Ryobi has released at Home Depot and they all have the same type of composite pulleys. For a couple dollars more Ryobi should upgrade all of these to metal pulleys that are much stronger. Other than that this has been a great drill press. ... show more

  • Expected a little more from Ryobi... HOWEVER, it works....
I just purchased this item and do far it works O.K.. For the money, $140.00, not that bad of a deal. The top pulley's for the belt does pull in the adjustment way too far so it doesn't loosen it up hardly at all to change belt location to the other pulley's. It will slightly (very slightly) loosen but you have too turn the belt off the pulley. Once off the top pulley's, All the other pulley/belt locations does give more play in the adjustment bolt to move the belt easier. Not that big of a deal but could be engineered better to give more play to adjust the belt in all locations. As far as the lasers, you can adjust them to pinpoint the bit location. One review stated you couldn't. It's not the easiest adjustment but it can be done. So far nothing has broken and has been working fine. I think for the money, it's not a bad deal. The description says it has a storage compartment. Not sure where but it has a place to store the key. As of now, it works as advertised. ONE MORE THING...... I would rather spend another 15-20 bucks if they would build a little better. Like metal pulley's. A little more heavy duty throughout. A metal top cover. Stuff like that. They need to hire me. I'd help design a better product that shouldn't cost much more. Like those things I suggested......lol....... Can't give half stars but I'd give it a 3 1/2. I put 3 on the star rating. ... show more
