  • 4 year old loved it—for the time it took to open it
Style: Series 5
My grandson really likes Ryan and wanted this egg, and so I got it for him for his birthday. The good: He was very happy and excited to receive it. Opening it and discovering all the toys inside is something like an adventure. It comes with 7 little containers (sort of like “eggs”) inside the large egg, and there’s a toy inside of each one. The bad: These are simple small plastic toys—sort of like “prizes” to be discovered inside each of 7 small plastic eggs, which come inside of a large plastic egg. It’s all kept organized in a plastic insert until you open it. Certainly the toys don’t seem like all that much for the $40 that this costs. They’re like dollar store toys. There is lot of wasted plastic packaging to this whole set. Overall, he was very happy with it on his birthday, but it was more about the adventure of opening it all up to discover the “surprises” inside, and so after that was over, he lost interest in the little plastic dollar store toys pretty quickly. I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. Hope that my review helped you. ... show more

  • Totally worth it.
Style: Series 3
I wasn’t going to write a review for this. However, after seeing all the negative ones I thought I would weigh in. I bought this for my 3 year old who loves Ryan. When she saw the egg she squealed with delight “Ryan surprise giant mystery egg!” The outter egg did have a crack in it. I really didn’t care. We spent a good hour taking everything apart. She had to look at every single thing first. That’s part of the joy of this toy. It’s like a holiday for a kid. They have all of these little presents to open. Then this very magical unheard of thing happened. My adhd toddler sat and played. She played by herself for a good two hours. She was elated to find her favorite Ryan’s world characters. On to the nitty gritty. The toys themself are well made. They are a decent size. Nice sturdy plastic. The range of motion on them is a bit limited. I would compare them a bit to LEGO people or imaginex characters. However, their little hands can actually hold their little accessories. They are also interchangeable. The characters actually fit in the vehicle. We received the combo van. This had multiple other doors and such that could be opened and played with. She takes these toys everywhere with her. To the potty in the tub outside. She is a rough toddler. They have been through heck and back and there is no evidence of damage on them. She plays with these every single day. The putty had a nice consistency, no funny smell. It immediately ended up on my couch. It peeled right up with no residue or sign of damage. I think the squishy toy might be her favorite part. She has stretched that poor thing beyond stretch Armstrong limits and it has not broken or leaked, which I am actually surprised about. The eggs are, well eggs. Plain old plastic eggs. They do the job. So for everyone saying it’s over priced and not worth it. What really are you looking for in value? Value to me is a toy my child loves, that is safe, that she will actually play with as opposed to trying to be on a screen. This ticks all the boxes. I could easily spend $40 taking her to chuckie cheese to keep her entertained for an hour. If your child is a Ryan fan, they will love this toy. I absolutely would and likely will purchase more of these. ... show more

  • Definitely not worth the Price
Style: Series 3
I can’t say that I am truly surprised with the quality of this item, since I have gotten my son smaller Ryan’s Egg’s in the past and they have all been similar. It’s truly sad though, that such low quality items can be sold in a giant plastic egg for upwards or over $40. I truly could have put better quality items in a plastic egg for 1/3 of the price! But, what can you do when it’s your kids like number one gift they want from Santa for Christmas! I do like the concept of the Ryan’s Egg’s and LOL Doll’s. I think that not knowing what your getting inside adds a level of excitement for kids; especially the age group that would ask for a Ryan’s egg. The slime was some of the WORST SLIME IVE EVER SEEN; and my kids make slime almost every other day. Sadly, their slime is of better quality then this. It was runny, it stained my couch and carpet, it sticks to anything, it’s super hard to remove, and it also had a weird, almost paint thinner type of smell when we opened it. It came with some stickers and tattoos (less than 10 of each); two small Ryan figures, and a squishy. There may have been one more small item inside that I’m forgetting, but I promise it was nothing to write home about. My son will be 6 this Spring, and it did the job for him on Christmas morning. He was excited and I can say he was probably the happiest when he unwrapped that. He played with it for like 2 weeks and I couldn’t tell you where any of the stuff is - except for the slime..... that went into the garbage the day after Christmas!! I’d probably stay away from this. There are smaller ones, and they aren’t top notch either, so spend less on the Dollar Store items that most of these Ryan products contain. ... show more
