  • Very nice pieces. Easy install
Definitely needed the drop pitman arm with my 8” lift. Tried it without the drop arm and had a lot of bump steer. Put drop arm on and drives great

  • It's beefy; but be mindful of your backspacing - it won't fit on factory XJ or TJ wheels.
The assembly is super beefy and it seems like this will be a huge improvement over my factory-ish upgraded parts. There is a slight interference issue if you do not rotate the drag link or the tie rod cross link because the clamps are indexed. Look for this if you have it aligned at a shop - they may not check. The bummer is that I have an XJ with a 4 1/2" lift and 31's on TJ aluminum wheels. The passenger tie rod end rubs when turning left even a little. The only options are: install spacers (temp fix), get wheels with a 3.75" backspace (good idea anyway), or get larger diameter wheels, like 16" or 17". I kept 15" because it's rocky where I go and I'm often airing down to ~10 to 15psi and the lager sidewalls are nice and cushy. ... show more

  • Rubs stock wheels on 1999 XJ
Overall, I'm very pleased with this upgrade kit. The parts are made very well and everything fits perfectly, with one exception: The passenger-side tie rod end rubs the stock aluminum wheel on my 1999 XJ Cherokee at full left steering lock (see photos). I'm going to use an angle grinder to remove a small amount of the TRE to fix this issue, but I doubt it will affect the sturdiness of the part as it's so much more heavy duty than the OEM parts. What I do know is if it keeps rubbing every time I make a hard left while parking, the wheel will eventually fail ... and that ain't good. I think the part could be slightly modified by the manufacturer so that it doesn't rub on any stock Jeep wheel, but I assume that would be costly to retool for a new casting. I can't be the first owner to notice this issue. For the relatively low cost of this kit, I'll put up with a little user-modification. Anyway, my Jeep used to hunt and wander on uneven roads (or even nice, flat roads), but now it's very tame and stable everywhere and at any speed. I was thinking of replacing the stock Pitman arm, but after driving with this kit for a day, I'm going to hold off on the Pitman arm until I think I need it. Right now and for the amount of off-roading that I do, it's not a requirement. Also, the instructions state that re-using the factory stabilizer requires the old mounting pin to be cut out of the stabilizer. Not true. Once the stabilizer is off the vehicle, you can clamp the mounting pin in a vise and remove the opposite nut. It's not easy and it destroys the threads (you're not re-using the pin anyway), but then it can be removed and the stabilizer mounted with the new pin. The kit comes with two additional large washers; you'll need to use one of them to build up the thickness under the new nut as the shoulder of the new pin is too long to allow the stock stabilizer to fit flush against the mounting plate without an additional washer. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
I got a 98 ZJ 4” lift with big ole tires. One of the best parts I’ve gotten. Install is pretty straight forward and easy. Ride is incredibly smoother, handling is significantly better. Parts feel of good quality. Overall I’m definitely satisfied with purchase. If you are questioning if you should spend the money on this or go with factory replacement, I’d go with this 10/10 times. ITS WORTH IT. ... show more

  • All ballll joint boots busted! No customer service!!
Was really impressed with the quality right out of the box. I installed it along with other upgrades and was unpleasantly surprised by a busted ball joint boot where it connects to the pitman arm.. This is after 25 miles of on road driving. Will be contacting rugged ridge tomorrow. Update: Omix-ada customer service has so far proven to be lacking in the one fundamental thing communication. Ive opened a complaint ticket and called and left a detailed message along with pictures showing the products inferior components but havent received any kind of resolution almost 2 weeks later.. This is really disappointing should have just bought Rough Country. Might just have to do that after i return it if i dont receive some kind of communication other that "your comment has been noted". This item was purchased 2/22/21. It was promptly installed and aligned. All the ball joint bellows/boots are now busted. I have tried to get in contact with rugged ridge about it in the beginning of march and here we are 4/14/21 and have yet to hear any word back about anything at all. Went ahead and bought the Rough Country steering kit instead. Dont buy this product you will be disappointed by the lack of customer service and the over all quality of the part. ... show more

  • ALERT: Needs update info/parts for XJ.
While replacing the rod ends on my RR steering kit, noticed inner threads of the lower rod were BAD. Kit was at just under 30k miles, not a daily driver, not a rock crawler, so I expected rod ends to be worn, but was puzzled about lower rod inner threads. But, hey, c'est la vie. So, ordered the 18050.82 as a replacement. Upon arrival, it won't install properly on a 1999 XJ with a 3.5" kit. That should sound odd, because the 18052.82 kit states for TJ/XJ/ZJ 84-01, with a lift 2-4". No joy. The issue is, 18050.82 ships with a 18043.27 rod end, which has wrong angle for knuckles on a XJ (any year, we compared to another, model '86). The part needed for XJ is 18043.28 make sure to take note. Manufacturer has been informed. First picture above is the NEW kit, with the WRONG (1043.27) rod end. Second picture shows the OLD, CORRECT rod end (18043.28) Other than that, kit installation was straightforward, performance was adequate; a much better part than the somewhat flimsy factory linkage, with the sleeve that collapses if you stare too hard at it. ... show more
