Everyone seems to have strong feelings about this sweater and its sizing. Also, this is probably my second review ever written, but I feel compelled to contribute after reading so many reviews prior to ordering and receiving the sweater. And disclosure — I’m kind of a mannequin build — very average build, v-shape, 6’1 and 190 pounds. This sweater fits great. Snug? Yeah. I ordered a Medium. I decided to not order a size up (or several as others recommended). The sleeves are not “6 inches too long and need to be rolled up.” It fits the way I expected to over my long sleeve Pilot uniform shirt. If you have a beer belly, bigger bust, overweight, not average build, etc etc… then you probably need something different in sizing..! Duh. Overall, good quality. Have I had better in the military? You bet. But this is a good alternative. Could they do better for the money? Probably. But again, overall, I’m pleased. Good luck. ... show more

I normally wear a medium but I bought a large and I'm glad I did. There is no way a medium would have fit in the torso - a medium would have been too tight. I'm not talking about the sleeves, which are supposed to be long in all sizes - you are meant to cuff them.

I am female but often have to wear men's shirts cause my arms are long and I am quite busty. I got a large. The sleeve are a bit long and the length of the torso is super long on this shirt. If I imagine myself with another 100lbs this shirt would still fit me. My only dislike.. is the stitching at the cuff. I wore it once and it frayed some. This was purchased as an alternative to the budget issued sweaters we get at work. This is a superior sweater to what's issued to us...but it has some issues. These are meant to fit snug, i'm 5'10 @ 225 and I rock a Large. There is some extra material on the length that can be tucked in or folded under. The sleeves are also very long and need to be folded over. I went to a tailor and they advised that alterations to this sweater are difficult and need to be done by hand....which is not cost effective for a $35 sweater. I wear this over a uniform shirt and i like the way it fits.....its snug fitting, keeps you warm, and great for those who prefer not to wear jackets. I place my soft body armour over top of it and folding the bottom doesn't interfere with my duty belt. I debated on ordering a wooly pully but it costs 3 times as much as this rothco sweater. I also find that the acrylic doesn't make me itch. I hate wearing jackets so for me this works....fits great under a duty vest and keeps you warm. I recommend that you machine wash and hang to dry. ... show more

I purchased this to replace my ancient and battered 100% wool commando sweater. It's not quite as warm as my old faithful but I was surprised at the good quality and superior comfort of the acrylic example. As many other reviews have noted, the fit is very odd. I'm 5'10, about 175. Between a medium and large t-shirt (depending on brand). After much deliberation, I ordered the medium sweater. The torso is tighter than I'd like but the sleeves are ridiculously long (hence I was hesitant to exchange for a large). The elbow pads hit me at the wrist and I have to roll up the sleeves 6+ inches. ... show more

I bought this for work as an alternative to polo's and/or a formal shirt. The fit IS snug but I knew that when I ordered it. I have two complaints. First is the Velcro epaulet attachment points. Depending upon your shoulder board length these may or may not line up correctly. The hook side on my sweater rubs on the acrylic material making it spall and look rather unsightly regardless of how I adjust it. My second is how it was shipped. It comes in the package with a cardboard backer for the garment to keep its folded shape on the shelf. Somehow mine shifted sideways in transit and upon opening my sweater I had two rather extreme bulges, (aka muffin tops), in the lower portion of my sweater which upon wearing it looked awful. I remedied this by lightly dampening the areas and putting it into the dryer on very low heat to get the material to "remember" where it went. This worked but for a new garment a person shouldn't have to do this. Otherwise the material is ok and the seams, fit, and sizing are correct and of decent quality. It does run a little long so if you're a person with a shorter torso be aware of this. ... show more
