This rolling pin was exactly what I was looking for. I saw it on a blog that didn’t give it a name or brand so I googled what I thought it could be called and amazingly it was exactly as I was describing it to google, lol, ‘spring’. Anyway, I ordered a few other rolling pins from other sites and this one is by far better than my others and any other I have ever seen. I will definitely be purchasing this brand in other designs. I received this beautiful rolling pin yesterday and couldn’t wait to use it. Today I made shortbread and used it to decorate the dough. It was super easy to use and worked so well ... it made the prettiest shortbread (see photos). It’s a work of art on its own and I’m thrilled with it. I plan to order additional rolling pins in different patterns. NOTE: I wasn’t sure if I should wash it before using it the first time and read different sites that said not to use soap on wooden rolling pins so before first use, I simply rinsed it well in hot water and scrubbed it gently with a mushroom brush. Then I patted it dry with a terry cloth towel and let it dry completely overnight. After embossing all the dough, I used a small paint brush to clean all the crevices. ... show more

I cannot wait to use this for my pie dough and Scottish shortbread cookies. I adore baking and this is going to make everything "dough" come out so much more interesting. Thanks to whomever thought of this. Very sturdy and love the recipe that comes with it. I thought it was the standard length, but it's fine. This decorative rolling pin works really well! I used it to make crackers. Our household is gluten free, so I make my own crispy crackers out of buckwheat. I sprayed cooking oil all over it before I used it, and I had no difficulties at all with the dough sticking, and really, it was a fairly sticky ball of dough. I used a regular rolling pin first to get it nicely rolled out. Then before cooking I cut out with cookie cutters. ... show more

It's a lot of money, but I adore this design! I wanted it for so long before I bought it. When it came, it was very badly engraved with ridged lines running through the entire pattern. I exchanged it and the new one was worse. I loved the pattern so much that I actually purchased an engraving set and hand engraved the entire rolling pin to make it usable. I use it on fondant as well as cookies and pie crust. Truly a work of art, but very expensive for a product so badly made that you have to buy engraving tools and engrave again yourself. ... show more
