  • 5.0 out of 5 stars my bike has a new lease on life
I bought this to replace my 20+ year old Manitau Skareb 80mm and I wish I'd done this a few years ago when I started riding again. The Skareb was supposed to have a lockout but it didn't work, and me being a clydesdale just sitting on my bike used pretty much all of it's small 80mm of travel. And being a 26" with rib brakes fork replacements are few and far between. So after watching a couple of YT vids I ordered one and installed it. What really surprised me was the weight. I was expecting a heavier fork but it's weight is very comparable to the Skareb which was a light weight XC fork. The second I saddled up I was delighted at how much travel I had available to me, and having the lockout for streets and paved park trails is great. My bike is old, but I've maintained it very well and a couple of years I upgraded the front derailleur, shifters and put all new cabling on it. But the fork situation was making the bike a less than fun experience. It's almost like a new bike now and I expect I'll be riding it for several more years. As far as installing...it's like any other fork. You'll need to cut the steer tube to length with a pipe cutter or hack saw and file the jagged edges smooth. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great entry fork! 100mm travel is possible but...
I bought this fork to bring new life to my vintage GT FS Timberline bike. So far, I love it, converting the threaded head end to threatless was simple (once I had the right tools) and installing the fork was easy. The only thing... it has a 20mm spacer in it! That's right, you will have to disassemble this fork entirely to remove the spacer if you want the full 100mm travel. It comes as 80mm out of the box. For that I have given it 4 stars, instead of 5. It is not a simple process, and if you are not confident removing the spacer yourself, you may need to bring it to a bike shop. Other than this, I've ridden it several times now and it is night vs day over the older elastomer fork, the ride is smooth for the light mountain trail riding I do. With the new headset, it was slightly heavier than the old fork, but not by much. Definitely a worthwhile investment to upgrade any older bike. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Feels great- check your factory fork length first
This fork looks and rides great for the money and I am a huge fan. My only gripe is that it is slightly shorter than the Manitou fork I replaced on my mtb, so my wheelbase changed slightly and I lost some steering stability, and it will actually get “tank slap” or death wobble like a cheap crotch rocket. But that only shows itself when I’m going fast on a paved surface, which I rarely do on my mtb. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Only 26” name brand shock really available at this price
The rebound adjustment is a hassle and it’s complete tuning width is found inside a half turn of the knob, so tuning is a pain, but it’s a good fork for the price.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent upgrade for older MTB
I have a Schwinn Homegrown from 2001, which I bought new and love it. The bike had an active life until around 2010, when road biking took over. A few weeks ago I decided to tune up my trusty Homegrown to start using it again. When servicing the original shock I realized that the internals were not in good enough shape to rebuild. Took my bike to the shop and they told me that it is not that simple to buy new shocks for these older bikes. Did some research and got to these air shocks. If you have an older MTB with 26'' wheels that is worth rebuilding/tuning it up, make sure your tube post is 1 and 1/8 inches and give this front suspension a try. My original suspension was a Rockshox as well but with springs. This air one is not a top suspension so not a huge improvement over my original one but it is better and so easy to add air as needed for the weight of the rider. My bike is back on the trails now where it belongs! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit for an old bike
Replaced the spring fork on an old Jamis. Everything fit perfectly, only thing I had to cut was the steerer tube which is normal. They always come longer than you'll need to account for different frame dimensions, etc

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars A true low price fully Adjustable front fork
Added this for to a lower end bike KHS Alite 50 that I converted to an Ebike. This conversion made the bike capable of over 20 mph with a moderate setting while pedaling. There is a reason Ebikes are limited at 17 plus MPH with a Suntour TXC front fork this bike took moderate bumps pretty hard. This fork was a massive improvement over the original fork. With air adjustment for weight and rebound adjustments this fork made this bike much more controllable. Before this upgrade this bike could become very unpredictable with larger bumps even on some paved paths. So this fork can be very useful for those who what to go down hill quickly or those like me that are kind of heavy with an electric push be more in control. A $250 front fork that keeps you from crashing is way cheaper than an injury or a trip to the hospital. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars If you're still running v-brakes, you need this shock/fork. Besides it just works
When my SID air was unrepairable, I discovered that no one makes forks with rim brake mounts any more. But they do. This is the one, and you can use it with disk brakes too. The price is about that of a rebuild for an existing shock, if a rebuild was available and the shock was rebuildable. Do I notice the difference? In my mind, I do, but I go over the same and more, with approximately the same level of comfort as I ever did. It does have a lockout, I do have to lean down and flip the lever to do it. This is actually a series of schocks with different level insides. This is the better of the two you're most likely to find for purchase. It has steel upper tubes, is an air shock with 100mm travel, and has externally adjustable air and rebound as well as a "turnkey" lockout with a hard blow override in the lockout position. It is straight, not tapered for the head tube. ... show more
