This has an old-fashioned quality that is better suited to a mature buyer, but for younger people, I don't think it will have the appeal that comes with more contemporary scent profiles. Newer scents can range from florals to bright citrus, musks, woods, etc., but what many of them have in common is something a bit simpler, fresher, and resembling (if not containing) essential oil blends. This one is quite sweet and does not have one particular identifiable note for me that says a specific flower, herb, wood/bark, musk, etc., but rather seems a bit muddy and lacking in nuance. The packaging is elegant, with a beautiful etched and faceted glass bottle, making this a nice gift idea. Just remember: very little goes a LONG way. If you like classic, very sweet scents that are old-fashioned, this is for you. If not, then no. 3.5 stars for me, more for others who would like this scent, I am sure! ... show more

Top notes of mandarin and black currant. Middle notes of orange blossom, grapefruit blossom, and hibiscus seed. Base notes of patchouli, musk, and amber. I think this is a long lasting heavier scent. Best for special evenings, and I think it would be best fall through winter. The patchouli is a sweet or honeyed patchouli, giving the patchouli a less intense scent. I feel this has a robust flower smell, not like a flower shop, but a garden with trees and flowers in bloom. The bottle is beautiful, the dark mauve purple seems to reflect what you are about to smell. This smells rich, and the last note that lingers in my nose when I smell it is something sweet.
