UPDATE: I walked around in these when I got my blade guards and they were a perfect fit. I sprained my ankle shortly after (not skating) so I haven't actually gotten to try them on the ice. However, I also bought a pair for my son as a birthday present and he loves them. We got them sharpened before his first time out on them and they've been a dream. The plastic hooks at the top of the skate have been just fine and are very sturdy. I expect theyll hold up pretty well over time. One nitpicky observation i have is that the hook openings are quite narrow, so its not easy to get the included laces to sot nicely within the hook. You kind of have to "clip" them in. The only real flaw I've noted is that my skates (size 9) had great laces (good length and good quality), his skates (size 7) are so short that we can barely tie them, even after tightening them as far as we can. He's been out on with them 3 times and we definitely need to pick up new laces or else I'm going to break my hands trying to tighten them enough to get a loop from them. I'm in love with these. I just got them today and my guards don't get here until tomorrow, so I haven't started breaking them in yet. I followed the sizing guide exactly and the fit pretty well. Very comfy. I MIGHT buy them again a size smaller after I try them on the ice because they are a little on the wide side, but honestly, I don't think it will be a problem. They look so pretty and they feel very sturdy. As others have said, the hooks are plastic, but they feel very sturdy. I was more concerned about the velcro strap, but it hold super well. I'm going to get the blades sharpened on Saturday before taking them on the rink for the first time. I'm absolutely besotted. ... show more

Skates are very good for beginners. They're soft and comfortable. I am surprised to read in some reviews that the skates are running small. I would say that they run roughly 1 size bigger. My street shoe size is 7, so I bought the skates in size 7, and even with a very thick sock they still a bit too big. I'm considering changing them to a smaller size. Size & fit is everything in figure skates. I’m a casual, just-for-fun skater who did not want to be professionally fitted at the rink & did not want to spend much . If you print out the recommended Riedell fit chart online it works. I am a size 7-7.5 shoe & these skates are a size 7 & they fit perfectly but w a regular sock-no extra room to spare at all for an extra thick warm sock. If you wear wool fluffy socks I would size up a 1/2. I love these skates. Yes they are a bit stiff & unyielding & I thought from the photo they were soft foam but they aren’t, they are regular hard sides. for the price they are Beautiful, they fit perfectly, the blades seem high quality & a very cool color. So comfortable for a beginner. I recommended to one size up as the skates have supportive inside. I normally wear US7, but I got US8 and it fit me perfectly.

I returned these because they are really hard and very uncomfortable.. the sizing is way off and I'm 9 - 9.5 women's shoe size.. I got a size 10 and they were still too small and tight, hard and uncomfortable. Highly overpriced for something that's uncomfortable and runs way small
