I bought the country cheddar rice a roni. So excited cause i have a hard time finding it. I read questions and saw it supposed to be 12 boxes in an order for 17.88. So i ordered 2. There is a picture thats shows 12 PACK!!!!! So today when it comes in it gave me just 2 not 24. With the subscription discount it was a total cost of 27$ for 2 boxes. Then to top it off the boxes are damaged. So no i am not happy. These will be getting returned. So disappointing To receive the item like this. I ordered this because I can't find this flavor in the grocery store and it is my grandson's favorite flavor. When it arrived I only had 1 box and thought that there were suppose to be 12 boxes. I would not pay that price for any product that normally only costs about $1.00 in the grocery stores.     • Excellent - use a little less water
Flavor Name: Rice A Roni, Fried Rice
I bought a 12 pack of the stir fried rice a roni. It was exactly the same as the fried rice I used to get, just in a different packaging and new name. It’s still very good. I usually brown the mix in a 10” frying (sauce) pan,carefully at slightly higher than medium heat with 2.5 tablespoons of butter until it’s pretty deep golden color. Then I turn the heat down to med-low and add just 1 3/4 cups of water that I heated in the microwave for 4 minutes. I quickly cover the pan after 1/2 the water is in so it doesn’t spatter all over. When the pan has settled down, I add the rest and stir in the flavor package. Cover and simmer 12 minutes and check if the water is absorbed. If it needs s minute or two more, then put the lid back on and wait. I usually sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of raw, sliced almonds into the rice for a little more texture. Serve it hot. It’s actually really good if you refrigerate it until cold then fluff it with a fork and reheat it in the microwave just before dinner. Good stuff. ... show more

There is an incredibly unhealthy level of salt in this. I don't know who is responsible for the formulation, but it's outrageous. Just look at the ingredient list: rice, wheat flour, salt. That's by weight! A serving size of two ounces has an unbelievable 800mg of salt...35% of your daily total. And who do you know who eats just two ounces of rice? To try to mitigate this, I add lots of stuff to it. Scrambled eggs (like fried rice, which has bits of egg); pineapple (like Thai fried rice); green peas; I think leftover cubed meat might help a little. Anyone with high blood pressure should avoid this. The only reason I have it now is because it has a long shelf life, and I'm sheltering in place. Shame on Quaker for selling such an unhealthy product! ... show more

I only received 1 individual box of rice for $17.88, should have been a case. I would like the rest of the case as this is not available in stores. Whse needs to be aware that it is a case, not an individual item. Price alone will tell you that - $17.88 /$0.24 per oz, each box is 6.3oz = 11.92 pcs for the price. This rice is a family favorite so we purchase a case every month or so. Until recently we received the case without any problems. Lately we’ve gotten 1 box of rice instead of 1 case.

Bought a big pack of these boxes and I probably have a lot more then we need. They were a good price though and can be used as a side or a main course. It tastes ok. Not bad, but nothing that I would miss if we didn’t have it. The rice mix is a bit sticky so I recommend undercooking it by a couple minutes to have more water still in it when you mix in the cheese as the last step. Decent flavor though. Easy enough to make, but melting butter and sautéing before adding more ingredients and cooking for 20 minutes means it’s not exactly “instant” either. I guess I’m talking myself out of my own review the more that I think about it! Hope I inspired you to consider it…or not. 🙂 ... show more

SO I was really happy to find this on Amazon for a reasonable amount. It's very flavorful and easy to make. I've been told by my mom, who lived in Japan for years, that it isn't authentic. Well, it's good. How's that for a smack down? When this supply is gone, I'll get more.
