Description

From the Manufacturer The Willys Corporation helped produce over half a million Jeeps during World War II. After the war, the Willys Pickup became popular with farmers and hunters and eventually with drag racers. It was perfectly sized for "Gasser" drag racing.

  • What a shame...
What looked to be a 5 star rated kit became disappointing during the final assembly. You've got poor alignment on the chassis frame, for openers. This causes the tires to rub the fenders front and rear. The opening door assembly hinges were deformed and made for a poor fit. The doors actually fall off the body if you open them too far. This kit included the largest decal sheet I've seen in car kit. The gold floral decals of the right and left front fenders wrinkle and do not wrap around the front properly. Decal setting solution helped but it's still not perfect. Optional flame decals are included too. Better luck with those! The interior had a lot of detail as the suspension. Paint adhered nicely as there was little flash off the parts trees. One weird thing is you must use a template to cut thin clear plastic for both the windshield and rear window. Why didn't they just include molded clear parts like other kits? This is a skill level 3 rated kit. It actually would have been quite easy to assemble, if not for all the fit problems. ... show more

  • Box was in perfect condition, no damage whatsoever
Bought five days ago, received today. Box was in perfect condition, no damage whatsoever. This kit isn't for a beginner or the faint of heart. It's an old tooling from the early sixties. Once you get down to it, most parts that don't fit are quite easy to rectify, simple sand-and-refit jobs. If you're looking for your first glue kit, this isn't it. If you're a relatively experienced modeler wanting a simple build with some engineering involved, look no further. ... show more

  • This is not a good kit for an inexperienced modeler
This is a Revell kit first issued in the 1960s. the mold is worn, and there is a lot of flash. If you are going to use the working features (Doors,Steering) you will need to do some additional work. Most likely you will need to drill out, and re-pin the parts. This is not a good kit for an inexperienced modeler. An experienced modeler can make a masterpiece, with some extra work.. ... show more

  • Willys Pickup
All was fine until it came to hinging the doors, this old mold did not leave enough of a pin on doors to hold them. I had to correct it and woth detail that small, it was no fun.

  • Disappointed Dad and Son.
Im not quite sure what happened to the quality over the years of the monogram models but it has went downhill. As I was painting the parts I was noticing the edges of the pieces were molded into the slag..no nipple to cut the piece off..it was actually part of the slag. ( slag being the edges of your pieces that you cut them from, the bit you throw away) Now I guess if I wanted to spend countless hours sanding and repainting after cutting the pieces off then this would have been a great kit. I got this for my 9 year old son and I to build and it was a terrible experience from start to finish. We have built 11 models to date together and had no real issues with the others. This one, on the other hand was a bad deal. Cons. Like I said before the pieces were molded into the slag, The chrome pieces were even worse, so when you cut it out it leaves a huge chunk of chrome missing, leaving a lot of white showing. If you touch that up with silver paint it looks even worse. The suspension was a mess. The rear end, when installed into the holes on the frame do not allow enough room for the rear tires to seat properly and leaves them bent out slightly which in turn pushes on the fender wells. And then that pushes up on the bed when installed. Looks like garbage. Pros: I cant really say me and my boy enjoyed any bit of building this kit. When we got it done he walked into his room and hid this model behind all of the others we have already built on his model shelf. Man, what a let down. I did get some quality time with my son but I guess we could get that from painting rocks in the driveway and get about the same results in the end. ... show more
