My second similar retro handheld console. While not a mini-retro portable device nor is it a regular size portable retro device, but this is larger than a mini-retro device. Size is very close to the original gameboy probably 75%, the amazing thing is that once you take out from box, open the back and put in the replaceable/rechargeable battery, i didn't expect it to be partially charged. Amazingly, it worked right away and i was down to checking 500 listed games, of course some (not many) are repeats but nevertheless you do get a portable retro device. I also didn't expect this to come with an external USB gamepad controller in addition to the standard audio/video cable. Don't expect much for the sound/speaker as this is a very very low cost device. However, easily solved by using headphones.

The first one I got was a dud. It turned on twice. The first time I played for 45 mins before the screen started to get dark. Charged it for several hours. Turned on second time and screen started getting dark after 10 mins. Then it refused to turn on again. Noticed battery and back cover were loose. If I held it with back facing down and bumped it, the cover and battery would fall out. Went thru Amazon return and received a replacement super fast. Second unit seems to be holding up much better. Screen is decent but not too bright. Display colors are good. Volume is controled by wheel on left side. Sound is similar to 8 bit, retro and cute. Light on screen edge turns on when charging but no indicator when done. Plenty of games but many have obscure generic names. You can scroll faster using left/right pads to skip screens. Controls/buttons work fine on both the console and the extra controler. AV connector is dated but works if you have that port. Connected to my larger tv but looks too pixelated on the screen. Plus the AV connector is the same as the charge port. Battery is small capacity, so you can't play on larger screen and charge at same time. Cute handheld, if you get one that works. Good for quick breaks or to introduce kids to retro games. I say spend a little more and get one with better quality.

This small emulator has several hundred games including some classics on a portable, hand-held gaming system that also doubles as a console. The 3" Screen is big enough for play, but you can also plug it into any non-smart TV or video accessories that have an RCA connection. (Or you may need to buy an adapter) This is a great value and also includes an extra controller for two-player games. Also includes a USB charging cable (but no USB wall charger) and an RCA cable. I am not as big a fan of the built-in rechargeable battery and would prefer to use batteries that are easier to replace - but we will see how long this one lasts. Note that there seem to be a number of repeated titles, so actual number of games is questionable. But it is still a great value.

This has 500 games, not 500+ and 99% are really bad knock-offs like Mario 16, remember that classic NES game of Mario vs Dinosaurs? Or how about Moral Combat 4 (Combat with a C) and of course the great game of Ghost Ship aka battle ship but with multiple missiles that can be fired? Great stuff. Seriously though it is a very lightweight cheap plastic console. If you want to play knock-offs of classic games , this is not terrible, but not really as advertised. Also, the cable to hook up your TV, which super small is an RGB cable, which no tv uses anymore, so realistically even if you have that cable you would have to be inchses away from your TV to play on it. i do not recommend.

The sound quality is bad. It does come with a lot of games, but seems to struggle playing PS1 games. It does not have N64 games or Nintendo DS games. Scrolling through games is a pain and there is an extremely loud click noise that plays as you scroll through each game with no option to remove the noise or lower the volume. It is 3x louder than any of the actual game sound or music. Scrolling through 500 games will make you want to mite your tv until you launch the game.

This is wonderful for kids. Not so expensive that you worry if they destroy it, but can teach them to take care of items like this at the same time. Then, if they like it, you can upgrade to something a bit nicer. The screen is surprisingly not terrible, considering what this is. The sound if rough, but works for the job. The buttons work, and if you're into handheld devices you will know what the "Contra test" is, and this actually passes that. Rechargeable battery via USB, or changeable, as it sits in a door in the back. Games built in are good, and bad, a wide mix of titles, plenty of ones you know if you look around.
