  • previous ankle injury makes these less than ideal for me
Size: 10.5 Color: Coyote
The zipper factor was very appealing to me, but due to a surgically modified ankle injury, the zipper contacts exactly where the hardware is. No fault of the boots, but not getting the most from the convenience of the zipper. Otherwise, they are well constructed and are comfortable with a very short break in. ... show more

  • Loved these since I wore 'em in the desert
Size: 11 Wide Color: Desert Tan
I first bought a pair of these boots when I was deployed to Iraq in '08. I loved them then kicking through the moon dust and the peanut butter, and after they were no longer military service ready, I still wore them around at home until the soles were slick and the zippers jammed and the seams busted. I was comfortable in them from the moment I tried them on, until the day I had to trash them. I thought they had been discontinued by Converse. I've been wearing boots since I got out of the Army, nobody else makes them like that. I've worn Merrels and Keens, but I have neuromas in my feet, so I have to have a wide size to fit my orthotic insoles and allow my foot to spread, and neither of them came close to the comfort and durability of my old Converse Moon Boots. Recently, my last pair of issue boots I have left from my time in service have begun to separate at the soles, so I started boot shopping, which I always dread. My feet always hurt after trying on new boots, and I was just browsing online to see what was out there when I stumbled upon these. Turns out Converse sold the pattern to Reebok, and Reebok improved the heel so it doesn't separate and pull the guts out of the boot when you take it off. I've been wearing them for 3 full work days and here and there over one weekend so far, and they are almost broken in. Usually it takes me at least a month plus to break in boots. The composite toe does not pinch in any way, and I was a little surprised. I usually wear a 10.5-11, depending on brand, and I ordered an 11 because some reviews said they ran small, but these fit like an 11. We will see if they last as long as the old Converse, but so far, I highly recommend these. They do have that heel to toe rocking effect, but I like that, because I naturally have a long stride anyways. Hope this review helps. ... show more

  • Good daily work boot.
Size: 10 Color: Coyote
Used this boot for 2 years for work. Very lightweight, good traction, good support, padding is ample, flexible once worn in, and because of the composite toe, my toes have never gotten cold in the 15 degree winters while working outside. Boots will hold up in serous use for about a year, then start to break down. However for the amount of stress I put these boots through its to be expected. I've walked on surfaces up to 300 degrees, for a short time with not much immediate damage to to the soul overall. Although the rubber like material will get brittle and break the tread pieces off from time to time. Also the soul temp'ed at 150 degrees my foot inside wasn't uncomfortably hot. Everyday use of this boot will wear down on the tread of this boot quickly because of the design of the many hooked tear shaped treads. But the pro to the design is very good traction. The lightweight design makes thus boot very good for all day use, whether it be walking, climbing long ladders, free or aid climbing, or repelling. If you're used to steel toes, this is a game changer. The zipper is plastic but has not once had any issues of any kind. The material of the boot will stain very quickly if in dirty environments, and over time the side and inside stitchimg will pop and continue to degrade as time goes, but to be expected for a everyday work boot, of this type of material. ... show more
