  • Great Elite Bat
Color: Mint Bat drop ratio: -8 Item length numeric: 29 Inches
This is a great bat! You should always break your bat in prior to use in a game. My son hit 200 times with this bat before using in a game, like he was supposed to- not a single problem! It just keeps sounding better and better and producing great hits! It has great pop and a huge sweet spot, says my son! ... show more

  • Worth it all
Color: Mint Bat drop ratio: -8 Item length numeric: 29 Inches
This bat so far has been amazing! The colors are beautiful. We love all Rawlings bats we have had so far because they have been so durable compared to others brands we have tried. Their bats are worth spending the money on because you will get your use out of it for longer than most. The "sweet spot" as our son calls or the pop is bigger than his previous Rawlings bat but that was a clout, so it was built differently. We highly recommend all Rawlings bats but this one is PERFECT! ... show more

  • Nice Bat, but Wrong Bat
Color: Mint Bat drop ratio: -8 Item length numeric: 32 Inches
I ordered a 32" -8 USSSA bat, but was sent a 31" -3 BBCOR bat. That's too heavy of a bat for my son right now, and by the time he's old enough to be allowed in a league that uses a -3 bat, a 31" bat will probably be too short for him, as he's pretty tall for his age (he's not in high school yet, where they use the BBCOR -3 standard; his age group still goes under USSSA rules, so he cannot use this bat in in any league play right now). There seems to have been a mixup at the Rawlings warehouse or the factory, because the box is original Rawlings marked cardboard, but it has two different labels on it; one for the bat I ordered, and one for what is actually in the box, as you can see in the photos - unless the mixup happened at the vendor shipping warehouse when they stocked their inventory - not sure why there are two different content labels on the Rawlings box. That said, this does seem to be a well made bat, although I'm old school and not really a fan of 2 piece composite bats, because they tend to dull the feedback you get as a hitter, meaning you don't feel the pop as much on solid contact. Also, with 2 piece composite bats, it is generally a good idea to give them a "break-in" period, rather than going right into a game with them, even though some manufacturers say they're cleared hot out of the box. They don't make bats like they used to. A friend is a coach for an international team, and he said his power hitters routinely crack 2 piece bats in games, brand new (no break-in). There are videos online demonstrating how to properly break these bats in to extend their lives, because they are very expensive. But to summarize the break-in process here: - have your hitter take the 2 piece bat to a batting cage/range where you can set up a tee - have your hitter hit 100-200 balls off the tee at about 50% swing power, meaning take it easy, and rotate the bat about 1/4 turn with each swing, trying to make contact on every part of the sweet spot of the barrel - then have your hitter hit 100-200 balls that you toss at them (not from the tee) also at about 50% swing power, and also rotating the bat slightly with each swing. - then set up the tee again and have your hitter hit 100-200 balls off the tee at full power swing, rotating the bat slightly with each swing - then toss BP at your hitter, 100ish balls, at full power swing, also rotating the bat slightly after each hit. This process is to harden the composite materials in preparation for game use. It's also not a good idea to use this in colder weather, because unlike the solid alloy bats, these are easier to crack in cold air, so I wouldn't recommend using this in the early spring or cold late-fall games. It's a nice bat, and seems well balanced, but I think $400 is too much for a 2 piece bat, and that's why I assigned 4 stars. ... show more
