As a player and coach, with a son who also plays baseball, we have a lot of experience with bats in our family, going all the way back to the pre-BBCOR days. Bats these days come in a wide range of price points, depending on whether they are one piece, two piece, what kind of composite, brand, and how recently released. The past releases of Rawlings Icon bats are great and have a lot of pop. This ‘Rawlings 2026 ICON Baseball Bat” is the new 2026 release. It’s a BBCOR model, so it is allowed at all levels of play. The bat is slightly end weighted, but actually it’s the most balanced end weighed bat I’ve ever swung. The thin part of the lower section of the barrel extends much higher up the bat than the usual taper, and this might take some getting used to if you haven’t used this design. However, it quickly forces you to keep your hands in to make barrel contact, and the good news is that the sweet spot on the barrel is much larger than tapered bats. Composite bats have a much ‘duller’ sound than one piece bats, without that crack sound. This is normal. Like other composite bats, this one needs to be broken in. Suggested break in is 50-100 balls (real balls, not batting cage balls) hit off a tee, or flip toss, at no more than 50% swing strength, while turning the barrel in your hand a quarter turn after each 10 hits. After a 100 balls, increase swing power slightly (less than 75%) for another 100 balls. After that, gradually increase to full strength. This bat has amazing pop. Even at the 50% break-speed, balls jump off the bat and go significantly farther than other bats. The bat feels well balanced in the hand and swings are almost effortless (we have the 33 inch model). The weight came in at almost exactly 30 ounces. The color isn’t quite as pastel as it might appear, more of a matte look, which I prefer. Tip: Do not use composite bats when the weather is less than 55 degrees F, especially if the baseballs are cold. Cracked bats can almost always caused by no break-in and/or using in weather that is too cold. Batting cage balls are also not good for them because of the heavier weight/density. This is simply an amazing bat. While it is expensive, the price is in line with other high end composite 2 piece bats that don’t perform as well.

This bat has some of the most incredible pop I've ever felt! I am smacking baseballs into the outfield like a professional ballplayer. My 11 year old son is so impressed with his old man. He loves using this bat, too. But it's not approved for his league so he can only practice with it. This is a BBCOR bat that is best for older players in high school. It's durable, perfectly balanced, and has improved my hitting since I picked it up. I love the way this bat looks. Everything about it is top of the line. Truly worth the investment if you're a serious baseball player - or just want the best gear.

This bat is elite and is going to be the “IT” bat on the team this year. I am ecstatic by the style and performance. What I liked: - this bat is a looker. Cool mint blue, sleek and a real eye catcher. Stands out when you walk up to the plate with it. - pretty well balanced but you can definitely feel the weight at the top and thus a little more end loaded than balanced in my opinion - has major pop when contacts the ball - when squared up the ball travels really far off that bat. My son sent multiple over the fence with this bat. - seems to do a good job absorbing the shock when the contact isn’t right. Less sting which was especially helpful in our cold weather. - comfortable grip - so far has held up really well. This bat is the perfect fit for my son. It made an excellent gift and has been a real confidence enhancer. All his friends want this bat too. Highly recommend.

Rawlings is the name of the game. This bat really has some pop to it. Its a bit end loaded, focusing more on power, hut remains well balanced. It performs very well, especially after some break-in swings on the tee. Its very cold in the northeast, so this has only seen some tee work and light indoor tossing thus far, but has performed extremely well. I also question the long term durability of these 2 piece bats, but time and live pitching usage will help tell that story. For now, it seems pretty durable as it has minimal marks on it from all the tee work. This is not a cheap bat by any means, but thus far it lives up to the name and price tag. Would recommend for now. Will attempt to uodate once spring starts and it gets some live pitches.
