For the past month and a half, my 10 year old daughter has been testing this bat out on a regular basis. She has had both the Louisville Kryo and access to several Easton Ghost bats during this time. Rawlings is not a brand you normally seek out for fast pitch softball bats but I believe that this particular model is setting them apart from the others. The bat is very nicely made and has a nice textured feel on the grip. The minus 12 drop was impressive especially when we discovered just how much pop it has. I have noticed that when she makes contact with the ball, the ball flies off of this bat. I do not think I have seen a bat with this much pop that also has the incredible weight drop this one does. One of the sweetest things about this bat is the sound it makes with contact. You can tell right away that it is solidly built. When I compare this bat to some of the others that she has had in the past I believe it is an excellent value for the money because she is getting responsiveness comparable to bats that cost twice as much.

The RAWLINGS ALO78 Fastpitch Softball Bat (2026) is a great next step up from aluminum bats once your kid becomes consistent at hitting. Higher end bats don’t make kids a better batter by themselves. This is a bat for those kids with some experience. For those inexperienced parents, this is a bat that needs to be broken in. Unlike aluminum bats, composite bats need to be hit a number of times at different strengths and speed to ensure the bat is ready for game day. Once the bat is ready, the hitting speed, pop, and ball distance is better than an aluminum bat. The fit and finish is good, but seems like there might have been some quality control issues with the paint chipping on the early production models. If you can find this bat at $200 or less, than I would say’s that’s a good value. Otherwise the full price isn’t really a value. If you are looking for the next level in bat technology and can take advantage of what composite bats can offer, this is one to consider.

I don't have much experience with bats, but I was advised by a college coach and a high school coach, both of whom said this would be a good one. This RAWLINGS| 2026 | ALO78 Fastpitch Softball Bat | -12 Drop | 2 Pc. Composite is a first bat for a first-time player, so I really have nothing to compare it to. So I can say it is a great-looking pink bat, and her teammates really love it too. It feels really nice in hand. It is lighter weight-wise than I was expecting. I'm not even sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it is easy to put power behind it. It does look like a high-quality bat and like it will be durable. The grip is solid, so hopefully it will last at least a few years of playing. I will update the review once she starts practicing with it and we learn more about the bat and what makes a good one vs a great one, and the specific details that we should be looking for as we begin our softball journey. At the time of this review, it is listed at $249.99. Scrolling through, I can find some much more expensive, and some much less expensive. I wouldn't consider it value-priced based solely on the price, but it very well could be if the quality, features, and performance are exceptional compared to its comparables.

We hit around 30 to 40 softballs with the Rawlings ALO78 on the first day, and the difference was noticeable almost immediately. Moving from a drop 10 to this drop 12 resulted in a much faster swing, and contact felt cleaner with more pop off the bat. Balls were coming off harder than expected, especially on solid hits. The sweet spot feels generous, which really helps with consistency. Even hits that weren’t perfectly centered still carried well. I was a little concerned about balance since this is a two-piece composite bat, but that concern went away quickly. The bat feels very well balanced in hand and doesn’t feel end-loaded at all. It’s easy to swing and even easier to control, which makes it a great option for newer or developing players who are still working on mechanics and bat speed. The lighter feel helps build confidence without sacrificing performance. As a bonus, the pink color looks great in person and matches perfectly with our pink helmet and cleats. Overall, this bat has plenty of pop, good balance, and is very forgiving. We’re really happy with how it performed right out of the wrapper.

We got this for our star softball player! And she LOVES it! The design on it is stunning! I love the hot pink color! Good weight for her to use as she's growing. It helps her hit the ball faster and she can have a quicker swing! The sound of it is amazing! Great pop! Great value for the money! It's very durable and has held up well so far! Would make a great gift for a softball lovers!
