  • Great game for 3yo
Great for learning and matching both colors and shapes. Easy enough “rules” that it allows flexibility when playing with a young toddler, but will also last as she gets older.

  • Great game!
Great game! My preschoolers just like to take the pieces and match them on the board, without rolling the die! My only complaint is that I wish the board was a plastic material. It is cardboard, which is what game boards are made from. The board has held uo entirely well through my preschool students, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Very nice set! ... show more

  • Great game! Dice ok and pieces choking hazards
My shape and color obsessed preschooler took to this game immediately. I love that there are various ways to play! I picked one way to play and quickly saw it wasn't making sense in kiddo's mind, so I quickly pivoted to another game type and we were off. I have two small issues with the dice. The first is that it seemed like the dice might not be weighted quite right. My tiny human brain might have been seeing patterns where there are none, but I couldn't shake a slightly frustrating feeling that I was getting way more of some sides than other sides. We did a lot of re-rolling. The other is that I didn't really like that there are only 4 colors and a die with 6 sides. One side is blank and one side has a smile, but they effectively mean the same thing. I would instead use an 8-sided die with two sides for each color, or a 10-sided die so there are also two free sides. The shape die seemed to roll way more circles and squares than triangles and hexagons. Again, I could just be imagining things. One other thing worth mentioning is a preference thing: if the whole game were larger in size, I would be able to play the game without shoo-ing away my toddler. The pieces are small enough to present choking hazards. I don't mind keeping away two dice, but she wanted SO BADLY to hold the shapes that I had to put the game away. Otherwise the size is actually quite convenient. Unlike most board games, this one is playable on the couch, and both the board and the box with pieces fits on a child's play table. When we play candyland, for example, we have to have a second surface for the cards, and with chutes & ladders a place for the spinner. ... show more

  • Excellent game for young children.
This is a wonderful game for young children. My daughter is 3 and has been having lots of fun playing this with myself, her dad and my parents. It is simple enough that she can easily understand and play it, but not so mind numbing so that the adults are bored out of their minds. She gets to practice taking turns and not always getting her way (sometimes you don't have the color you rolled on the dice!!) both of which are excellent age appropriate lessons. Plus she seems to find the colored pieces fun to play with on their own. I highly recommend this game and plan to buy more copies as presents. ... show more

  • If you don't follow the rules this game is great for all ages
If you don't follow the rules this game is great for all ages. My grandchildren are ages 1, 2 and 4 and we could all play the game together. When the youngest was playing with us we just took turns picking any color and shape we wanted and found the right place on the board for it. The youngest was so excited when she put her piece on the board. Good game that doesn't have to be competitive and can be played in so many ways. ... show more

  • Versatile Game!
I use this game during preschool special education sessions. I have never finished a game with my students as 40 game pieces are a bit beyond beginners. I do know there are different levels of play but there are different levels of children that want to play together too. It would be awesome if the game included a twenty piece board, one of each shape in each color.I added sorting boards--laminated construction paper in each color. I am planning to make shape sorting boards too. I wish the shapes included rectangles and octagons instead of trapaziods and hexagons -- children learn the former first, as those are street sign shapes. Also, instead of the clown why not four colors? And, to prevent confusion by children that are learning to sort by two attributes, make the color the entire side of the die, not a circle of color the same size as the circle shape die. Lager dice, each contained in a die " popper" like the "trouble" game would be cool and prevent wild throws. I use the game to help children sort , match, and identify colors and shapes as well as to learn to take turns. ... show more

  • Great game
We LOVE this game! I still am not sure how I was able to find it in search because I had never seen it in all my other searches, but I'm so glad I did. My 2 1/2 year old LOVES it! He is very interested in shapes and colors and this game is perfect. It can also be used as a matching activity with the pieces in a basket next to the board. I am very happy with it and it's getting a lot of use. ... show more

  • Great game for 3-4 year old; too simple for anyone above 4 +
This game is as nice as any Ravensburger game. It is designed to help little children to learn colors and shapes. Manufacturer recommends it for kids up to 6 years old, but my 5-year old found it too simple and boring. We had to donate it to someone else after 15 mins of playing because he thought it was stupid to look for "red square" - as if he does not know what it is. The idea of the game is that you roll two dice, one with shapes, one with colors, and either put a game piece with the matching shape and color on the board, or take it off the boards (there are several ways to play this game). It would be fun only for 3-4 year old who is still learning colors and shapes and for whom finding a green square comes with a challenge. The game is interesting but gets pretty slow at the end when only a few pieces are left and it takes many rolls of dice to get a match. Having said all that, it is colorful and well made game for the little ones with significant eductaional value. ... show more
