I’ve been keeping bees for years, and orange nitrile gloves have been my go-to for a long time. They’re also what I recommend to every new beekeeper I mentor, because they encourage better beekeeping habits right from the start. These are 8 mil nitrile gloves, which hits a really good balance. They’re thick enough that bees almost never sting through, but still thin enough that you can feel exactly what you’re doing. That feedback matters. When you can feel the frames and the bees instead of working through bulky leather gloves, you naturally handle everything more gently. The bees notice, and inspections go more smoothly for everyone involved. They’re true to size and fit both me and my husband well. He actually loves them for working in the shop on his cars and doing oil changes, and we also use them for regular housekeeping. It’s nice to have one type of glove that works across beekeeping, greasy garage jobs, and cleaning without feeling flimsy or awkward. I specifically stick with orange. Black nitrile gloves seem to be everywhere now, and bees absolutely react to that color. Orange doesn’t draw the same attention, and I get noticeably fewer stings compared to darker gloves. The diamond texture isn’t my favorite, but I haven’t found colored nitrile gloves without it. Functionally, it does its job and provides good grip during longer inspections. They arrive fresh and pliable, not brittle. I’ve had nitrile gloves before where one in five tears while you’re putting them on, which is frustrating and wasteful. These hold up the way good gloves should. The price is excellent. They come in two 50-count boxes, and at our local hardware store I pay almost twice as much for essentially the same thing. For gloves I trust around my hives and use constantly in everyday life, these are an easy recommendation and one I’ll keep buying.
