  • Quality and Engineering Issues
There were several issues with the product, First the most serious was with the adapter ring setup (pictured below) for several reasons. First, the set screws would not hold either adapter securely nor would the adapter's set screws hold the 10mm or 25mm steady. I could physically jiggle the pieces after repeated tightening. the 25mm actually fell out onto the grass while attempting to find Mars. Secondly, because of the wiggling the image ended up not only blurry but had a double vision effect. Most likely this is because its made of cheap plastic and the screws do not thread directly into the adapter or eyepieces like professional systems. Instead the set screws grind directly against the adapters and eyepieces causing damage. The second serious issue was with the finder scope "tracking system". No matter how much I tried to "scope in" (align) the spotter scope with the main scope, it never aligned. The three set screws again were made to hold the scope in the mount but not designed to adjust the alignment for "spotting in the telescope. I'm not sure if the statement posted on the "about this Item" section on Amazon was copy and pasted from a different brand telescope with an automated tracking system or what, but there is no such "Lock and track feature on this telescope package. Nor is there anything automated. In my opinion, the spotting scope is simply an aesthetic feature mimicking a professional telescope feature with no practical use. The third issue deals with the tripod the "Support System." As stated on Amazon, " For the observation of distant celestial bodies, a high-strength stainless steel tripod is used to ensure the stability of the astrology and show more celestial details." While the stainless steel is a sturdy material the plastic parts attaching the stainless steel tubing to the upper assembly is not sturdy. The weight of the telescope caused the plastic to flex making it impossible to keep the " the astrology" centered in the frame. Even anticipating the flex of the plastic mount was a very difficult procedure in keeping the subject in frame. I must also mention that the locking knob for the side to side movement just flat out did not work. The plastic just flexed and the knob caused scoring on the rotating plastic. I own a $200 tripod for a Canon 5D which eliminated the Support System issue. However, the first two reasons with the adapters / eyepieces and spotting scope alone warranted the return of the item. For $350 I would expect the main telescope to not have any plastic pieces with a better design to secure the adapters and eyepieces and a spotting scope that is not merely an aesthetic feature but a functional part of the telescope. Initiated a return with HHUK86. I attempted to send the item back but the return label was not prepaid. After talking with FedEx (the company HHUK86 sent used to send the product) said it would cost $355 to send it back to China. After week emailing back and forth with HHUK86 and making my case for a defective product, the best they would offer was for me to keep the telescope and get a discount for "profit for product" of 8%. For a $354 telescope they offered a $28 dollar discount. I Have initiated a A-to-z Guarantee Refund and submitted all my communicative evidence to Amazon with HHUK86 to support my claim. I want to return the item but I am not paying for the return!! ... show more

  • Buyer beware
After waiting 6 weeks for delivery, I was not happy when it arrived. It did not have the spotting scope, or even the mount, included. It did not have the cell phone tracking mount or any software. It arrived scuffed and scratched. The steel parts were sturdy enough, but the plastic parts connecting them are not. The instructions were all in Chinese characters. I don't speak or read Chinese. I think Amazon should drop this product immediately. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
If I was charged $150 USD for this telescope I wouldn't be disappointed in the lack of product quality. There are several issues with this product and I strongly discourage future purchases. First off the set screws do not properly tighten. This results in excessive vibration which causes poor image quality. The cell phone mount does not allow for taking of crisp photos as advertised. I would suggest the marketing in this regard is misleading. Lastly the tracking scope alignment is very poor and I found it easier to not use it at all. I regret tremendously spending $430 on this product. It simply wasn't worth the spend. ... show more

  • Only for stargazers fluent in Chinese
Hubby bought it as a gift. Took forever to come. Easy to mount. Manual in Chinese. Website from manufacturer is also in Chinese. No English option. Thanks to the few drawings we could figure it out. Quality is mediocre. Difficult to stabilize. Extremely sensitive to touch or vibration. Overall would not recommend for beginners or people looking for a compromise between quality and budget. ... show more
