There is plenty of fabric below the hips, yet it does not pucker out or make me look heavier, it hangs nicely. The fabric has a nice smooth silky feel and flows and drapes beautifully. There is an attached slip that comes to just above the knee (I am 5'7").

Love this dress!! The material is polyester, so it's what you'd expect. Not the softest, but did not irritate my skin at all. Flattering and comfy. Fit true to size. Can be a bit stifling in the humidity, but overall flowy and comfortable. I actually saw someone wearing this dress at a wedding I went to and thought "wow, that's such a cute dress!" and then lo and behold as I'm scrolling through Amazon not a day later, it pops up! Very pleased with the purchase!
