  • Specifically covers Shopsmith Mark V; good for any equipment
I own a Shopsmith 10ER and recently purchased this book. There are several editions, and I wasn't sure which one was which. This one turns out to cover the safety gear, base unit, and accessories for the Mark V version of the Shopsmith. I'm considering getting one of the other editions of the book that is 10ER-specific just to get all the gritty detail about my own machine. As others have said, having a Shopsmith of any kind is totally unnecessary and this book will be very helpful. I have only read the first few chapters and already there are great ideas for various home-made jigs and helpful tools, plus techniques that are all applicable on any type of actual equipment. It's like learning how to play tennis with a particular brand of racket: you can still play just fine with another brand of racket. This book is well-written and totally understandable to mere mortals -- no need to have your black-belt in woodworking before being able to read a book written in arcane language. Quite the opposite: a reader who has never even seen a power tool could get started with this book. It's arranged with a chapter for each type of tool (e.g. table saw, band saw, drill press, etc.) so if you don't happen to have a particular Shopsmith accessory or tool in your shop (e.g. band saw), then you can simply skip that chapter and read about something you actually do have. There are some sections that are particularly Shopsmith-oriented, such as setup and alignment of specific knobs, etc. but even the high-level description of what is being done is relevant to non-Shopsmith owners. ... show more

  • Almost perfect condition
This book was nearly pristine. Would definitely recommend this seller again. And the book is very helpful for using the shopsmith.

  • In decent shape
Definitely not new as listed… Couple of dents and imprints in the cover…however, the content is excellent.

  • Best Shopsmith information.
This book is a must have source of information and instruction for the owner of a Shopsmith lathe based multi-purpose woodworking tool. I have owned my Shopsmith since 1964 and still depend on this book for specific instructions. I highly recommend the book.

  • The bible of the Shopsmith Mark V
As others have noted, this is a must-have if you own a Shopsmith Mark V. Decristoforo writes clearly and explains steps in context so you fully understand how the Mark V works. In addition to very thorough setup and alignment instructions, this volume covers every one of the five functions of the base Mark V in great detail, as well as ancillary tasks that can be handled and the attachments that will be needed to do so. This book should be your second purchase--your first being a Shopsmith Mark V. ... show more

  • Must-have for Shopsmith Mark V owners
If you own a Shopsmith Mark V, this is THE book to have. Some information duplicated from the owner's manual, but goes into much greater depth. Also has plans for some jigs and fixtures you can make to use with the Shopsmith. Detailed instructions and pictures for any operation or setup you might want to use. ... show more

  • Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone
This book is for shopsmith owners, but of the 65 or so jigs many can be used with anyones machine. As a shopsmith owner I would reccomend this to any wood worker, period. And if you are a shopsmith owner then you need to buy a copy of this, Please tell me if you got nothing from it.
