Some inserts are "pre-cut" which can fall apart with age and time. These are solid, so I can cut my own shapes into them. Then used a skewer to "sew" the layers together.

I bought a foam cutter, and it cuts through these foam inserts like butter - that said, I don't know how well they cut with razor, but I assume they cut easily enough. Perfect width for my purposes, and great to have the thin sheets to fit underneath the thick cut sheets. For pistol cases, tool cases, instrument cases... these are very useful, and I will likely buy more as I need them! ... show more

Purchased to help pad a package for shipping automative calipers, which are heavy. These really did the trick. Was able to fit them snug in the box with no movement. Even though they were heavy, it didn’t dent the padding all that much. They do arrive in a sealed compressed package- so they look thinner than they are. For products like these, accurate sizing is important. I understand having a bit of tolerance for being vacuum sealed from shipping, but this is less than 3/4 of an inch thick when advertised as 1". Update: After several hours of sitting out, it's closer to 1" but still about 2/10ths of an inch short. They might eventually fully expand, but it's hard to tell. ... show more

I needed to pad the inside of a rolling under-seat travel case. I use it to carry my laptop, printer tablet, and other delicate electronics. With the variety of thicknesses and ease of cutting the material with scissors and razor knives, I was able to shape sections to fit. I highly recommend it.
