I'm 6'2" tall and the "mid height OEM windshield" caused the wind to buffet right at mid helmet height when cruising around 60-70MPH. The extra 2" height on the tall Ripper windshield is just enough to force the airstream over my head. Much more quiet, much less buffeting and finally, I can hear the radio !!! Not to mention that with the cutouts at the base of the windshield, it allows better ventilation into the cockpit and keeps things cooler on sunny, hot days. Theres a hole in the center of the windshield. Its for a center bracket not provided. So you will always have the hole or go through lenghty conversations to find out that for around another $150 you can order the bracket thats not included. Because the U.S. does not require it which is stupid they should not even drill that whole for us. Also if you only have one center mounting hole (bottom center) youll have to drill holes because this windshield has two bottom center wholes. This product came with no instructions. However the windshield itself is very good quality. Customer service did work with me to direct me to the other $150 worth of center brackets Still not sure about drilling the two holes to mount the bottom center correctly worried about wires behind it. ... show more

Love the new windshield! We had the mid-level Ripper Windshield and upgraded to this "tall" Ripper. The annoying wind buffeting around the head has been eliminated. The stereo sounds better. There is still plenty of air flow to keep cool, but you aren't getting beaten in the head by it. My ears would hurt after long rides before, but after a 600+ mile weekend road trip, there is no more ear pressure pain. ... show more

Works much better than standard height. a bit quieter, and wind not hitting my forehead , 5"11" , should keep bugs from hitting my head. Leave the protective covering on it when test fitting it, you will have to drill two additional holes on the 2017 models, in the center mounting area, they provide plastic pop rivets to secure in the new holes. The newer Ripper windshield design let some air through in specific spots... Just right to keep things cool and to eliminate a lot of the wind buffeting the old Blade styled windshields caused.
