Twelve inches doesn't sound like much on paper, but in Gyarados form, it translates to a substantial, coiled beast that commands attention. Forget subtly placing this on your desk; it's more like staging a full-scale aquatic invasion. The sculpt is fantastic. They've captured Gyarados's menacing yet strangely majestic look perfectly. The jagged fins, the sharp teeth (rendered safely in plastic, thankfully), and the overall serpentine form are all incredibly detailed. You can almost hear its fearsome roar echoing in your room (though that might just be your imagination... or the neighbor's dog). The paint job is also well done. The vibrant blue scales transition smoothly to the off-white underbelly, and the red crests really pop. There's a nice level of detail in the eyes, giving Gyarados a suitably intense and ready-for-battle gaze. Why almost a perfect score? Here's the breakdown: Epic Scale: Seriously, this thing is BIG. It's a centerpiece figure that will definitely draw the eye. Impressive Detail: The sculpt and paint really bring Gyarados to life. It feels like a premium collectible. I love this figure! It is articulated, but its movement is somewhat limited. Nonetheless, it's a perfect figure for posing or playing with. Plus, you get a physical version of one of the greatest pokemon ever!

Got this for my 6yr old, it’s a really nice size for little kids and holds up to his level of play, but he’s always been very gentle with toys, so I could imagine a rougher kid breaking the stand or other parts pretty quickly. Super affordable compared with a lot of smaller Pokémon toys. My son loves it, and it looks nice on his shelf between play sessions.
