My freshman daughter’s eyes lit up when I gifted her both PO’ UP! games. She was like “daddy I follow them on social media!” Lol. I got this to celebrate Black History Month. Most of the questions are geared toward graduates of HBCU institutions. I did not attend a HBUC, but have a general awareness of the ones in the states where I have lived. The questions are too hard, such as which HBCU has the biggest enrollment. Thinking of the whole USA, that is hard to come up with. The directions suggest it could be a drinking game (they reference "water"), but is also enjoyed without drinking. This is a drinking game (rightly so!), designed only for those who have attended an HBCU. The game can be controversially fun as far as it goes. However, this game is also culturally offensive to those people of color who have not attended a HBCU, but other universities like Harvard, or any other Ivy League university. The notion that only those who attended HBCU’s had these types of experiences while in college. Is not only absurd. It’s an intellectually challenged idea. PO’ UP is such a vibe! It’s one of those games that instantly takes you back to your college days… the good, the messy, and everything in between. As an HBCU alum, it reminded me of why choosing an HBCU was hands down one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The laughter, the stories, and the memories it brought up felt so real, like I was back on the yard in Aggie Land (AGGIE PRIDE!) lol. What I love most about this game is how it makes everyone feel included. It’s not just about winning or losing it’s about sharing and connecting. Each card brings up something that’ll have you laughing until your sides hurt or telling stories you haven’t thought about in yeeeaarrsss. Whether it’s about being broke in college, stepping out at a party, or those unforgettable Greek moments, every round gets better and better. This game is a must-have.
