  • Better than expected
Color: Pro
This thing ended up being way better than i expected it to be! I figured it was a kids water rocket and it just shot up a couple dozen feet and no worries, so our first fire, i aimed it towards a small field/opening where the woods were about 80 yards away, pumped it up a bunch and had my daughter blast it off- and watched this thing sail into the trees 80 yards away as it was coming back down! so words to the wise, point this thing almost straight up with very little angle of aim because it shoots- the description says 100ft but this thing will go way higher than 100ft. As for value, this thing is awesome. It very easy to build and set up; uses water so you can use it all day for no cost, and its easy enough launch that my 6yr old pretty much does it herself. its durable too smashing into the ground over and over and we havent had an issue yet. This is one of the best kids toys i've ever bought. the one improvement i'd suggest is the 'base' is designed to use three 2 liter bottles to hold the launch base in place. its hard to aim/move/adjust while using 3 independent bottles, so took a 2ft x 2ft piece of plywood and put a couple screws thru the plastic base and mounted it to the board. it holds it in place way better than the bottles and is much easier to adjust. other than that though, this thing is a solid win for a kid. ... show more

  • really fun toy
Color: Pro
Overall, a really great toy, it looks cool, and works well. Doesn't really fly that high, but for young kids it's great. It's fun to play with various amounts of water and pressure. There is some setup time, you need to fill the rocket with water, then put it on the launch pad, then pump it up......then launch it. But it is all fun. There is no parachute, so this comes down quite fast. While the nose cone is soft to protect the rocket, it is very flimsy, and we added some foam rubber inside the nose cone to give the rocket more protection. If it doesn't land on grass, I suspect the rocket would break. If your child has less patience, a stomp rocket is much quicker to the launch. ... show more

  • A real blast!
Color: Pro
I bought this as a gift for my niece's young son. This is so much better than the little hand pump water rockets of my youth. The only problem is that my niece didn't listen to me and decided to launch this within the small confines of an apartment grassy area, not a full-sized park. Inevitably, after the first ten amazing launches, it landed on the apartment complex roof-top and was lost. Bummer. This is a lot of fun and works really well. It can go super-high when pumped fully, so be sure you take it to an area with plenty of open space so it doesn't land in an inaccessible area. I may be purchasing another one just for myself. ... show more

  • Using water beats the mess of vinegar and baking soda!
Color: Pro
Very easy to use. Comes with everything but the water bottles and water. Remember to have three water bottles to anchor the launch pad. Will travel 100 feet up and has adjustable azimuth. I suggest the yellow nose cone be filled with foam or some type of filler and glued or zip tied on. If not.... the bottle will crush but remain usable if landing on a hard surface. The nose cone repeatedly detaches upon landing. Fun toy with my 3 year old grandson. Excellent learning booklet supplied. ... show more

  • Awesome little water rocket.
Color: Pro
This is a great little rocket. The whole setup was really easy to put together. I did it with my 2-1/2 year old daughter. It was easy enough for her to slide on the find and nose cone. The stand sits very solidly and we've had no problems on the trigger mechanism after many pills by the kiddo. I set it up, she launches it. Be warned, the little ones love it so much that you end up making many trips to the drinking fountain unless you bring a bottle to fill it from or your child can do it. My daughter tries but is just a bit too short to work the fountain. The whole thing works much better than the handheld water rocket I used to use as a child and you don't get water all over yourself. An interesting thing I learned was to not over pump it. The manual claims it has an over pressure vent, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I did notice that the sound changed as the pressure got a bit higher. Getting the pressure correct had a pretty big effect. The higher pressure really let this rocket fly, but the extra thrust caused pretty erratic flight. Keeping the pressure lower gives much more stable flight and it gets plenty high enough to entertain. This is also a great way to make a book like "Rocket Science for Babies" come to life. My little one is much more engaged with the book when a live demo backs it up. ... show more

  • Water Rocket review!
Color: Pro
Although rocket feels a little flimsy, it functioned well. My 5 yo grandson pulled the launch cord/heavy string too hard in the hopes of a higher launch height! The launch was great, however, the launch trigger lever broke! I repaired same by carefully dissembling the Launch Platform paying particular attention to the placement of the two different lengths of the tiny screws. I hot melt glued a short piece of coat hanger to both sides of the “I beam” launch trigger lever! Works great! Even little kids loved to launch the rocket! Good start into model rockets! ... show more

  • Not what I'd hoped
Color: Pro
As a child in the 1960s, I recall having a toy that worked on similar principles. This rocket looked intriguing, so I bought it for my young granddaughter. I actually bought it twice. The first time, the mechanism was broken so the rocket wouldn't launch straight. I returned the defective product and received another. At the first launch, the plastic piece attaching the string to the launch mechanism broke. We could still launch the rocket, but someone had to be sitting right next to it and duck when the rocket went off. I'm not buying this a third time. If it works right, it's a lot of fun but getting it to work right was a losing effort for us. ... show more

  • Great Fun
Color: Pro
9 yo grandson loved it. Easy to assemble and operate. Just be sure you have lots of open space because it doesn't always go in the direction you want it to go. We had to climb a fence to get it from the neighbor's yard and use a ladder to get it off another neighbor's roof. Fortunately, it has a soft tip, so no property was damaged while using it. ... show more
