Bought this as a mountain bike tool box and carried roughly 45 lbs of crap in it at all times and in and out constantly. Carried weight well until the little plastic pieces that snap on to the pivot for the latch (I know, I'd be confused too. See pic) started going one at a time until it finally gave up the ghost and yard saled all my stuff. This thing saw multiple park days, camping trips, me dragging it through the woods, sitting on it, sliding around in my truck etc. I'm actually a little sad it finally died.     • Holy crap I bought this in 2012!
Browsing for a smaller toolbox by Plano and stumbled on this one i bought in 2012! This thing has been in the back of two trucks and still 50lbs of tools in it. Only thing that's broke is one of the locking tabs for the small items. Truly a product worth every penny!

I researched the heck out of toolboxes around this price point. It was hard to find exactly what I was looking for, but I decided to try this one. I'm extremely happy that I did. I was concerned that the latches that secure it on the sides are not metal. It turns out to be a non-issue. These latches are very well made and secure the toolbox perfectly. I love the two trays inside the unit. One is seated on top of the other. The bottom one is deeper allowing items like hammers and large, thick tape measures to stow away nicely. The top tray is shallower and I use it for things like a laser level, digital tape measure, precision screwdrivers, etc... Beneath the trays is a deep storage compartment for storing larger tools. It can accommodate a large number of items, making this a great choice for a workman who needs all of the necessary tools for a particular job in one place, or for a homeowner who simply needs a good collection spot for the typical items that are frequently used in regular maintenance, like hammers, pliers, wrenches, screws, nails, and the like. The two translucent small-item trays that secure into the lid of the toolbox are a great feature as well. They easily slide out should you want to remove them, and just as easily slide back in. They fit very securely so there is no concern about them coming out accidentally, even if the toolbox is being jostled a lot. They also each include extra removable dividers so that you can configure the compartment sizes to best fit your needs. As I stated above, the latches are heavy-duty and never feel like you have to be gentle with them. They give the feeling of being nearly unbreakable under normal conditions. In short, I love this toolbox. It feels so durable that I would have no concerns with it being thrown or bumped around. I would expect no damage of any kind. It's 22 inch length is longer than many toolboxes in this price range and is the perfect length. It enhances the functionality and storage capacity significantly. The box is deep enough to hold any variety of tools - even many power tools. The two tray inserts and the two clear small-item inserts in the lid provide even more useful storage for countless items. Overall, the durability and different storage options of this toolbox would be worthy of a higher price tag. I am much more than simply satisfied - this thing exceeded my expectations. If I choose to replace one of my older toolboxes in the future I will replace it with this one. Great value for a great product. Definitely a 5 star item. I highly recommend! ... show more

    • This is BIG - really, too big. But otherwise excellent
Okay, so it's not exactly the manufacturer's fault that I couldn't picture how truly large this case would be just from the pictures and measurements provided on the website. But this thing is BIG. It will comfortably hold EVERYTHING, all the tools that a regular person's house might have. Sounds great, right? That's why I bought it. The problem is, it's so big that it's pretty dang heavy when you load it up like that. The handle is only big enough for one hand, so you've gotta lug this box with all the stuff in it with, duh, one hand. And that's where it gets heavy. When they say contractor grade, therefore, they really mean it. Big, beefy contractors with stronger arms than I have wouldn't have any trouble slinging this around. For little ol' weak me, it's definitely a chore. Otherwise, this is a great toolbox. The way it's organized is terrific, with the little slide-out boxes for the nails and such, and the little interior trays for ever-larger stuff. Makes things easy to find quickly without having to sort through and pull stuff out. Nothing gets buried - everything is visible. So, if you want big, big enough to hold everything, and you work out, then this is the toolbox for you! ... show more
