Description

Please kindly understand that colorblindness is NOT a uniform disease. Colorblindness is caused by mutations in the color sensing transmembrane proteins located on the cone cells in your retina. This mutation might occur in different cone cells, or in different amino acid residues in a protein of the same cone cells. In other words, the disabled spectrum windows and the severance may be totally different from person to person. With all these said, please kindly spend some time in selecting the lens by taking the FREE colorblind test on Pilestone Official Website by yourself or with your eye doctor. Also please be aware that our glasses are universally designed to cope with the most common conditions. Different people may have different experiences on the same pair of glasses. There is a 10-15% chance that our glasses completely don’t work even if you pick the one suggested by the test.

  • I wanted to like these, however they’re just too reflective.
Let’s approach this top down, The box and shipping.. top notch, amazing box presentation, the glasses case is a hinged metal with felt lined hard case. Really has a premium feel. The glasses themselves, sturdy enough for use by an adult. I’ve tried them on a few times and sure they feel cheap, however not like dollar store glasses cheap, they have some significants to them. Color correction, when wearing them I notice a slight improvement, it’s still challenging on some slides to find the number/pattern, day to day objects present better, when looking at LED lights for example, I have an alarm clock that is blue on a black background, this clock is VERY hard on my eyes without these glasses on it feels like looking into lasers. Same with car headlights and mostly any type of lights. They take a lot of strain off my eyes. When putting them on first thing you’ll notice a lot of color shifting, anything white takes a color hue and I’m really not a fan of it however after a few minutes the brain kinda compensates for that and you become “blind” to the color shifting. The big negative for me however is how highly reflective the glasses are, they look like tinted sunglasses. And if you wear them around the public eg going shopping. You get a lot of strange looks. There is also a lot of reflection on the back side of the lenses meaning any type of light behind you, over head grocery store lights, a cars headlights behind you, a reading light behind your chair. And it’s quite blinding, it makes it really difficult to see through the lenses. The price and design features were very attractive to me, however with the concern of how reflective they are, they’re practically unusable for me. And while they’re more economical than competitive brands, $109 at the time of this review is not something I’m comfortable with spending on a product I can’t enjoy fully. So back they go.. ... show more

  • They Work. But Not Life-Changing.
After watching YouTube videos of people breaking down in tears at the newly colorful world brought to them by Pilestone colorblind glasses (and the competition as well), and after watching the video review by an impartial user whose opinion I trust, I finally decided to try a pair. It was not the life-changing experience that the people in the videos have enjoyed. It wasn't even fantastic. It's OK. Colors do look different. I can better differentiate between shades of red and green that have always given me trouble. Certain purple and pink flowers look brighter or deeper. Some car colors really pop. Fireworks this year were the reddest I have ever seen, and I saw more variety in the colors than ever. Green and red traffic lights -- which I never confused, anyway -- look a lot more green and red. So that's all good. But since these work by filtering out select overlapping frequencies where red/green color deficient eyes have the most difficulty, the colors we see through these glasses aren't necessarily correct. The main thing is we can now better differentiate. The glasses give everything an overall pinkish cast that after a little while I stop noticing. It's always noticeable when I first put them on. Because of this slight darkening effect, they're not really good for indoors. I haven't worn them to the movies. The frames are disappointing. Rather than being prescription eyewear quality, they're closer to dollar store sunglass quality. The right temple of mine broke at the connection pretty quickly. Pilestone's response to this is what leads to the 4-star review instead of just 3. I emailed Pilestone to ask for a replacement temple piece. After receiving my proof of purchase, Pilestone (Ben, who I assume is the founder/inventor) sent me a complete new pair. Standing behind the product this way is worth something. ... show more

  • Unfortunately I will return them
The glasses worked for me. Not like the video where the guy had normal color vision, but they helped me see all colors more clearly. While the glasses helped colors stand out for me, anything white looked pink. I don't think I would notice as much if I wore them all the time. What I couldn't deal with was seeing my eyes and sides of my head reflecting on the inside of the lens. I didn't mind at first, but the reflection was worse inside with overhead lights. I was squinting to ... show more
