It is so attractive and well made, but my grandson is 5 months old, 22 pounds - well within the specifications - but he has quite large thighs and I can barely get him in and out of seat. Some other reviewers had the same problem, I wish I had seen those reviews. If you have a chubby baby, best look for a different seat. ... show more

One measurement of the quality of a product is the quality of the customer service that you receive. Phil&teds has exceptional customer service! We purchased the original Metoo Portable High Chair years ago and used it as our primary high chair for both of our older children. They were able to stay in it until they were ready for a booster seat at the table. We loved it so much that it was our go-to gift for all of our friends who were having babies. When our third child was born last year we couldn't wait to break out the Metoo high chair. In the process of getting it cleaned up and ready I checked online to see if there was any information about the chair since it had been a few years since we had used it. I knew about the updated Lobster, but we were loyal to the original. I found that there had been a recall on the chair in 2011. Despite us NEVER having any issues with our chair, I emailed phil&teds to request the fix-it kit they had developed to restore the safety of the chair. This is when the exceptional customer service comes in. Shannon got right back to me and the repair kit arrived at my house in just a few days. The kit instructions were very easy to understand and it did seem to improve the stability of the chair. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete the upgrade because of a stripped screw. I emailed Shannon again asking for advice on what to do and again she got right back to me. She instructed me to file a claim on their website (very easy) and they would send me a new chair. I felt truly valued as a customer! It is because of this outstanding customer service that I wanted to write this review. In the process of researching the safety update for the original chair, I decided to purchase a Lobster chair, so I am able to review it as well. Even though these chairs are very easy to move from one location to another, because it is our primary high chair we like to have 2 so that one can be at our breakfast counter and one can be at our dinner table. The Lobster is an improvement on the original chair in every way. The pocket of the chair is deeper and the back of the chair is less deep, so the baby is more enclosed and secure. The handles that tighten the clamps are more substantial, so they are easier to use. I also love that it comes with a bag. Like its predecessor, I can tell that the Lobster will be our "go-to" for years to come. ... show more

I searched for this type of chair because I prefer baby to be at the table with the rest of the family rather than secluded in a big bulky high chair in the corner. Now that we have it, I can see traveling with it, easily! This was the 2rd seat I purchased for my baby, but I returned this one kept the Mountain Buggy Pod. The Chicco version from Target was dangerous; my baby was able to escape while strapped in (f I tightened the straps to allow her to be immobile, she was so far from the table she couldn't reach)! I un-recommend the Chicco. Because I had free returns, I purchased both the Phil & Ted Lobster (P&T) and the Mountain Buggy Pod (MB) one to compare at home. Following are some specifications I hope this review helps someone else wondering the difference: Compact: MB and P&T have the exact same dimensions when folded and when extended. I literally couldn't find a difference. They are obviously made at the same manufacturer, as the P&T box has the "Mountain Buggy" name on it. Both come with similar black carrying case. Total weight: MB: 2.2 pounds P&T: 4 pounds Opens to accommodate depth of table MB: 2" P&T: 4" Width between arms when installed MB: 11" P&T 12.5" Grip material: MB has rubber on top; rubber under P&T has rubber grips on both above and under pieces Seat fabric: MB and P&T are made of the same fabric Seat cleanability MB: easy to wipe down P&T in addition to the easy to clean fabric, also has some mesh fabric at the back of the seat. I felt that over time this mesh would catch food and be more difficult to clean. Seat removability: MB: removeable P&T: not removeable Harness: MB: 2 point harness P&T: 4 point harness (There is no way my baby can get herself out of the MB seat unless a chair were under her to push off of) Tray: MB includes no tray (see my note below about which are compatable); P&T includes a tray that I couldn't get to fit with the chair. Ultimately I didn't feel the P&T Lobster was worth the extra $30 over the Pod. It is slightly heavier, but I couldn't tell that it was any more stable. I didn't want to deal with cleaning out the mesh fabric (see above), and had trouble securing the tray that came with it. The only reason I would prefer the P&T Lobster is if my table were more than 2" thick. Hope that helps! ... show more

We use it at home occasionally because it’s rare that a table will actually accommodate it. Also the harness is totally confusing and our son just takes it off like a shirt
