I can't speak on the water proof and durability yet. My 5 year old son refused to wear his TNF jacket because it wasn't colorful enough. He saw this and absolutely had to have it. I worry that it will not be warm but it is in the wash as we write this and will update after a week. As of now, design is good for young children and youths. Geometric blue, neon green and white. Pockets on the sleeve and inside the body like most ski jackets. My son is in between size 6 and 7 and 44 inches , I ordered a 6x. Nice fit with room for layering and goes below his bum. Update 1 : We've been in Chicago and NYC with this coat, -15 to 45 degrees, and it's done well. My son is always toasty and if not careful, sweating under this coat. I've washed the coat twice already and still looks good, no fraying, chain pulling, etc. Highly recommend! Update 2: I'm surprised how warm this coat is, I will now purchase one for my daughter. Keep up bright funky designs! Kids love it! Update 3: Sept2020 - pulled this coat out to check the fit on my tall 5 year old and see if it's ready to go for winter 2020 and yes sirrrrr, looks like new after several washes and abuse from a rambunctious 5 year old. Good stuff, great purchase!

3/6/20- still completely satisfied! Love this coat. Everything is still in tact, after almost 4 months of daily wear in addition to 3 snow outings. DURABLE ZIPPER. As I myslef am rather petite ( and i ordered it on the large side for my son) i actually wore it twice to run out in 20°F weather for an errand. Really is warm but not sweaty. 11/19/19 Just opened it today. Here's hoping it lasts. Initial impression = worth the money. Great features. *light to medium weight- not bulky or heavy *seemingly durable materials, waterproof durable exterior *soft fleeced interior+ unexpected possibly heat reflective insulator patch panel on interior back * elastic pull cord cincher on bottom trim and interior snowskirt flap with snaps *thumb holes/half mitten built in + adjustable velco straps on cuffs *6 pockets (4 external zippered, 1 mesh open pocket inside, 1 clear vinyl velcroed inside) *Removable adjustable hood. Not sure why it has an elastic cincher on back of head. We Ordered 2 sizes up to hopefully get our money's worth. Usually top out at $40 for a winter coat for our son. He also has broken the zipper on 2 winter coats in 2 years. ( in addition to a hoodie zipper). Hopefully this zipper lasts. Will update with wear and tear updates.

We have gotten a lot of compliments on this jacket! The pattern is fun and bright (making it easy to spot!). My son says it's plenty warm enough and I like the internal belt feature and the wrist guards are helpful in keeping snow out. He loves it! Hood is removable and the pockets are nice. We've had a lot of wet snow this year and he's always dry! I dropped a star because the sizing is a little funky and the zipper feels cheap. My son is a 7 but tall and slender. I went with the 8 for the extra sleeve length expecting it to be a touch big but it is a solid 2 sizes bigger. (Full disclosure...I did not check the specific measurements and typically expect most things on Amazon run on the smaller side) He can wear it with room to grow and can likely use it again next year, but if you are in between sizes just take that into consideration at purchase. I was worried sizing down would swing too far in the opposite direction, so we've kept it. The zipper feels like one big snag is all it would take to split and he actually has trouble zipping it himself as it get's stuck on the backing.
