  • Nice time pass and interesting moon
Lately, I've found myself spending more time at home sitting by the balcony chatting with neighbors and reading my books. I came across a book talking about the universe and it got me startled to purchase a telescope. As I'm a total novice at this, I decided to purchase a beginner's scope under $100 that would be easy to assemble and calibrate and start viewing quickly. After a brief browse, I stumbled upon this telescope and decided to buy it. It came nicely packaged in a box inside which is a bag that holds all the components of the scope along with the tripod. The bag is of moderate quality however, the components are made of high quality plastic. It came with the main tube, two lenses 9mm and 20mm, a finder scope, a smartphone mount and a tripod. To be honest, the tripod provided is not the best quality as it does wiggle a little but the telescope once assembled isn't too heavy so if you are viewing in a place that's not windy, you're gonna be okay. Assembly took about 20 mins after carefully reading the instructions provided which is pretty straightforward. I did spend another 10 mins or so to calibrate and position to scope to get a clear picture. Once I was familiar with the scope, I decided to capture an image on my phone using the phone mount. I have attached the best picture I could capture of the moon. It is pretty fascinating and intriguing to view the celestial objects at this level of detail. Undoubtedly I will be purchasing one of the higher level scopes pretty soon to view further away celestial bodies and objects. This scope has brought a new hobby to my routine and I'm enjoying it much. The ease of use, price and portability has earned my five stars! ... show more

  • Good beginner telescope
It's a good one for beginners. I had actually bought it as gift for my roommate. The packaging was fine, and ample protection for vital parts. There are two lenses 7nm and 20nm. The 7nm lens provided greater magnification. Initial assembly was simple and straightforward. Looking at images was sufficient to assemble within 15 minutes. I was able to see the moon through it in another 15 mins. Once process was learnt it was faster. I could see the craters and the abnormalities on the surface of moon. There is a limitation on how much a telescope can do though We took it to see the sky from one of the dark spots in joshua tree national park. We were able to view saturn and jupiter from Joshua tree national park. We could see the moon pretty clearly through it. It was a challenge to take the photo using the mobile comfortably though. I could faintly see the rings around saturn too. It was definitely a stretch though. Also saw the satellites around jupiter. The telescope is easy to use and at a good price. Looking forward to explore more in the skies with this. This was a first telescope for my roommate so we enjoyed the overall experience. Very educative to understand sky better. ... show more

  • It’s all in the focusing
I don’t know what a “non-beginners” telescope would look or feel like but I would say, for the price, it’s a good starter kit. I’m impressed by the step-by-step guide included, although some of the pictures/words are hard to read, you get it. I’m not impressed by the tripod - it just feels really delicate. You need patience for this assembly because after you’re done and additional patience to get everything adjusted/focused so you can actually see something. It’s not for kids to do alone because you really do have to take time to adjust the lens and focus on the object. The phone connect was a bust on the first try so I’ll try again. ... show more

  • Lots of fun!!
Our daughter lost her mind over this telescope. She did a project on the moon last year and has been asking for one since. I finally ran across this one and it seemed like a good price for a beginner telescope. It was easy for her to understand how to use, and set up. It comes with a carrying case/back pack, two lenses, and a really cool little attachment so you can take videos and pictures with your cell phone. It's not much good obviously for things beyond the moon, but she's pleased enough with that. She can also use it to look at the birds put in our field and the woods beyond, depending on the lens we're using. I'm very pleased with this as a starter telescope, and even I enjoy looking through it. ... show more

  • This is not the telescope you’re looking for
The telescope its self is decent, but the tripod is straight up garbage. Once you locate the area you want to view in the sky, you fine adjust the eye piece. And then- you bump the darn thing with your head and lose your spot. You will spend all of your time trying to focus on a star or moon or whatever in the sky just start the process all over again if you or anyone else bumps the telescope. Not worth the $90 price tag. Telescope = ok 6.5 out of 10 Tripod = 3 out of 10 Accessories = 6 out of 10 Backpack = 4 out of 10 Underwhelming and a solid meh. ... show more

  • A great starter telescope kit!
The backpack is a really nice extra feature. The item was packed in the backpack very well. It’s easy to put together and get working. The included documentation is adequate to get you started. I had a little challenge with my iPhone 8+ in order to get the phone adapter in the correct place, I discovered that it would make my camera go into single shot mode when I tightened up the screw. Not a big deal, it’s easy to resolve. After getting the adapter lined up and installed, I tried taking a picture in our back yard. It worked pretty well. This is a really great feature. We love to camp and take pictures of the critters in the area. This should facilitate making this possible. Overall, I’m well pleased with this telescope. It’ll do what we need and at the same time, it’s easy to transport in the backpack. I recommend this for young enthusiasts who are interested in learning new things. ... show more
