  • Best Case You Can Get For Your Ipod Touch 5th Gen Best Case You Can Get For Your Ipod Touch 5th Gen
Amazing Quality Case, Much Much better then my old case Pros: *all buttons work perfectly with it, Home, Volume and Power *screen protector is crystal clear and doesn't stick to the actual ipod screen *access ports around lightning port and headphone jack are much easier to open and fit my Sony XB400 headphones and Anker lightning cable fine. *open hole for the camera lense to allow pictures to turn out much clearer *Great 3 piece design, Very Well Protected for Ipod Cons: Sometimes screen functions don't work through the built in protector, takes a few tries. (any screen protector will have this problem though) Not Waterproof (But I knew this when buying it) I can just buy a clear waterproof bag to put the otterbox case in to fix that Other Note: I really wanted the Black one but it was out of stock at the normal price so what I did was buy the grey/white one and used a black permanent marker to black out the front white cover. Be sure to use a piece of paper along the edge of the screen protector so you don't get ink on it as you work your way around it with the marker. It turned out great. ... show more

  • Love it!
Pros: Have had the case for 2 years and it's still working great! Love it! Fits well. Very protective. No bumps or scratches to the ipod. Looks good. All the holes cut for the headphones, charging port, speaker and camera are great. The bevel for the camera and screen are protective. Great for heavy duty use. Has a loop if you want to use it though we chose not to. Cons: The buttons are a little difficult to push. The built-in screen protector made it hard to touch the edges of the screen (but we were able to easily to remove the screen protector that came with the case and installed another screen protector made specifically for the to be applied directly to the ipod screen which worked well. ... show more

  • Can't imagine a better case could be made
I first saw this case on a friend's iPod and could not figure out how the heck she ever got it on there. Then I got mine, and I was still puzzled I would never be able to figure out how to put the iPod into the case -- the directions were all pictures and looked so lame. Well, I was worrying myself about a problem that just did not exist. Take a couple minutes to look at the pictures to see this is a "case inside the case" and you will not have any problem at all. The fit is exceptional and the material is high quality, molding around your iPod... well, like it was made for it! So nicely done that it is almost impossible to see how it is done. Just do it in a reasonably dust free space or you will have to re-do it when you trap dust in between the iPod and the front case cover. I have not dropped mine yet, but do not expect to have any issues with damage. Yes, it makes the iPod a little bulkier, but I think Apple might have gone a little overboard in reducing the size in the first place. My iPod feels more secure in my hand now, and I am much less likely to drop it. I think it does interfere slightly with the touch screen, especially when typing -- but it was easy enough to get used to that.I love being able to wipe off the screen without worrying so much about it. ... show more

  • Beautiful Case, But...
This is an awesome case! It's very protective. The plastic part is thinner and flimsier than expected, but to compensate, the silicon part is thicker and tougher than anticipated. It's cool, multi-layered, and will definitely attract attention. Super-well designed and functional...again! :) It has tremendous features like button and insert (3.5mm jack and lightning USB)protectors, wrist loop, and a built-in screen protector. The only problems: 1.) If there is any hair or lint stuck underneath the integrated screen protector, you need to remove the thorough case's layers, which is a meticulous process, at least for me! 2.) The screen protector is lifted slightly above the screen, so it requires noticeably more effort to register touches. Therefore games and lightning-fast typing won't be as easy as it used to be! 3.) The protectors for the power, home, and volume buttons are very stiff, so it needs a little bit of extra strength to push the buttons underneath down. ... show more

  • Pricey but Worthy Investment
For something made up of around 5$ or so of rubber and plastic, this cover would seem to be expensive, and, well, it is. BUT, considering it's protecting anywhere from $250-$350 of electronics, consider it an insurance policy. For my Ipod 4 I had bought a Griffin case costing around $26, and it's combination of tough skeleton, thick rubber padding and built in screen protector kept the Ipod safe for years until my daughter dropped it while out of its case. This Otterbox for my Ipod 5 has a similar design, with a tough plastic core, surrounded by rubber edges and a built in screen protector. While I would prefer the rubber be even thicker as it was on the Griffin, the slim design does make it easier to put in and out of a jeans pocket. The rubber itself is not overly soft, but certainly gives someone a much better grip on it than the Ipod's very slick aluminum and glass. I am guessing the rubber and plastic would protect the Ipod in an reasonable drop from height, AND protect it from a decent amount of torque, bending or weight stress except that applied directly to the screen surface. In addition the plug covers for all the openings except the speaker MIGHT give some precious seconds of recovery time to avoid disaster should you drop the device into water. That does NOT mean the case is waterproof at all! The screen shows through just fine, no distortion, and responsiveness seems just as good as if there were no plastic over it. The optional lanyard is a nice addition, allowing those with butter fingers to insure they don't drop it into water or from a great height. I have had it for months now and I have had no complaints. Are the buttons a little harder to push? Yes, I suppose, but not that much so, and it is worth it to keep the thing safe. One thing this device DOES have over my last case was once assembled, it will NOT come apart. The griffin had a flimsy bottom hinge which soon broke, and after a year of so of use, the two plastic shell halves did not click in tightly, forcing me to use tape. This will not happen with this case, and despite what other have said, I do not imagine that I will need to open this case very often at all. One small issue with the headphone jack. The hard plastic frame prevents anything but a small based RCA plug from fitting into it. ... show more

  • OtterBox Rocks!
We currently own two of these cases. We have owned many Otterboxes. Theses are the BEST cases for the iPod touch. Okay, these are definitely the best cases if those iPod's are being carted around by young people for sure. ;) This case keeps the iPod protected even in the event of an accidental fall to the ground; concrete, hardwood floors, tile- (We've personally tested this many times) It protects it if it gets thrown in a bag with a bunch of books. (Also tested and proven by my family) NOTE: It will not protect it from water damage. (May or may not have been personally tested by my family as well) :P -I wouldn't take the case off and on a lot, as it seems to add a lot of wear and tear to the case. The only downside of this case is that it limits the kind of cord you can use as far as aftermarket due to the opening in the bottom. But that's the only complaint I have heard. Overall, a fabulous case for the iPod! Will keep these on the iPods. ... show more

  • Seems rugged, compatibility issues with quality headphones
Seems to be a rugged case that will protect your itouch 5. Problem is with compatibility with add ons. I have an excellent JBL iPod dock and speaker system that did not fit my itouch 5 so I bought the standard lightening to 30 pin adaptor. Turns out that this adaptor cannot fit the opening in the otterbox, so I bought a different adaptor (not inexpensive) that would fit. Good enough. Next I found out that the 1/4 to mini adaptor for my Sennheiser headphones would not fit no the tiny space provided for headphones by the otterbox. I also tried a pair of Grado headphones that had a mini plug built in...also no go. Apparently the otterbox only works with the cheapo iPod headphones that come with your device. Another issue is the film that covers the careen. It does protect he screen, and is fairly responsive, but it does make the itouch a little more difficult to use and clouds the display a bit. Overall a case that seems to provide a great deal of protection but that also limits interaction and degrades the display. I can't send mind back because I carved it up to fit my headphones, but given the option I'm not sure i would but it again. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
I used this same title to describe a knock off of this case made by i-Blason. Never having owned an otterbox case before, and seeing the price difference, I opted for the cheaper one first. For about half the cost, i-Blason has a product with half the quality. If you walk into a bestbuy hoping to try one of these out, you probably won't see one. A few of my local stores had many colors, and styles of otterboxes for the iphone 5, but not a single otterbox for the 5th gen iPod. A sales person let me open an OB for the iPhone 5 and test fit it to my iPod, no dice. The volume buttons do not line up. So to get this $28-$40 case, you kinda have to blindly go all in to see if you think it's worth double the cost. Like the i-Blason version, this case uses a hard plastic inner shell wrapped in a softer white material. The OB's outer surround feels much less cheap and flimsy. The OB case also comes with a screen protector affixed to the plastic innards. The view of the screen was better through the OB's screen protector, but still not good enough. Zagg invisishield still makes the best screen protector as far as I'm concerned. They are more pricey, and difficult to "install" but if you keep your device in your pocket instead of a belt case, it is essential. BB will price match amazon for the invisishield, I got them to mark it down from $25 to $12, then had the geek squad install it for another $8. Geek squad does it perfect every time, if they don't they fix it free. I started out hoping to protect my new $300 apple device for the $17 the i-Blason cost. When I decided to spend the extra $ now to protect my investment while it's new, I spent $28 on this OB case, and $20 to have the invisishield installed - I popped out the OB screen protector. For $48 I now have a durable feeling, and aesthetically pleasing case for my iPod that I am confident will last the 3-4 year lifespan of the device. Next time I'll buy an Otterbox first. ... show more
