Frustrating for kids AND mom!
Love the concept and the Tangrams portion plays well, but the numbers and words are a mess. The pictures are not at all representative of the word they are supposed to spell. I'm adding several pics to explain. The numbers game is a bit confusing because there is no explanation of what they are supposed to do. They start off adding, then suddenly they just have to put a 2 and a 5 down to get 25 and it's quite slow in response time. Even if we keep going down to multiplication and division, it's just basic practice that they can get on any free app and not worth the money. So far these games are just frustrating my children. I'm debating whether to send it back but hoping for a response with fantastic updates first.

Beware if using Amazon FreeTime
My kids have Kindle Fires set up with Amazon FreeTime for parental control. Getting Osmo to work on their Kindles has been an exercise in frustration. Everything you try to do will be blocked. First challenge is getting the Osmo app installed. To do it with FreeTime enabled, you have to download it on a parent device, then share it with the kid device, then download it onto the kid device. Now open the app on the kid device, it says you need an account. Blocked on the kid device. Do it on the parent device. Now login on the kid device and tell it which products you have. Now it tries to install something else based on the last question. Blocked. That's where I stopped to write this initial impressions review. Amazon and Osmo get an F in "Works Well With Others". -UPDATE- 2 days later my kids have been able to use this by getting the individual apps for each activity, but still can't use the main Osmo app. The included pen for the princess drawing requires pressing so hard to make a dark enough line for Osmo to recognize that it broke during the first exercise. Abundant tears. My kids do like the activities they've been able to do, so I'm upping the rating to 3 stars. This product is a fantastic idea that just doesn't get it quite right.

Great for kids and works great on the kindle Fire
We have been osmo fans for a couple years now on the iPad. But the kindle fire is more economical for the kids to use so I am so glad they came out with a fire edition. We utilize the osmo games for homeschool with our 5 & 7 year olds. The base is awesome with the extendable legs. When testing the letters, numbers and tangrams out while I set up a new kindle fire 7 all the games worked well. So far the games recognized the pieces well. We have issues sometimes when using them with the iPad version. I really feel so far it works better than with the iPad. I look forward to the additional osmo games to come out for the fire so we can switch all our osmo game play to utilizing just the kindle fire. The letters, numbers, and tangram pieces come in small stackable plastic boxes. Sometimes the lids stick a little when trying to get them off. With this genius kit you can play the numbers, letters and tangram games but you can also use paper or dry erase board to play the monster, Newton and masterpiece games.

I can’t explain how amazing Osmo is! I have used the Osmo system in my classroom for three years. The kids in my class never get tired of it and it makes an amazing center. Anyone that comes into my classroom and has never seen how it works is amazed! I am so excited that Osmo has made this for the Kindle Fire Tablets. I love the new version for the Kindle! Thank you Osmo! =)

Received a broken base and bad customer service.
*Update to original review we have received a replacement base that is fully functional. The review of the customer service remains to be pretty poor, but the replacement base is working well. My daughter loves her Osmo and the games she got with. She prefers the Detective game and has played it almost daily. Still bummed with how the whole experience unfolded, but pleased with the working base. I have to say we were very excited to buy an Osmo as a Christmas present. We bought the genius kit, a fire and five games from Osmo. My daughter's excitement was well worth it upon opening the present. That quickly dimmed when we opened it and were setting it up. One leg of the base is jammed and the release button is broken. Being this was her big present we are incredibly disappointed. So I immediately emailed Osmo customer service with a video and explanation of what was wrong. At first the reply was quick and they offered a replacement and asked for more pictures. Fast forward a week another response that it got mixed up in the holiday bustle and want me to try wiggling it and sent me the same video the thing plays when telling you to extend the base. I clearly watched the video. I sent a video of us wiggling it. Absolutely unbelievable that we have had this broken thing and a couple hundred dollars in games and it doesn't work right and their response is wiggle it? Even after I sent a video of us trying everything to get it to work. Thanks Osmo for turning our excitement and my daughter's Christmas joy into disappointment and heartache and then not caring enough to fix it.

A great way for kids to actually interact with screens
I love this product, I really do. It is so much better and more fun than zoning out on YouTube (*cough* Ryan *cough*). My daughter is 4 and she got this for Christmas 2018. It has quickly become her favorite toy. She loves the monster (which is not actually included in this pack but is a free download that does not need anything special other than a whiteboard and dry erase marker) she had never been very interested in drawing and watching him pull her drawings up into the screen and interact with them is so exciting for her! Santa also brought her a super spiffy convertible easle/table with a whiteboard side that works perfectly with this. Good lighting is important so the camera can clearly see. She enjoys the other games too, but the Monster is by far her favorite. I feel much better about her screentime now that we have this because I feel like she is learning more than she would, even with ABC mouse. I am confident that this is a toy she will be able to grow into and enjoy for many years. My only complaint is that I can not figure out how to add the various games into the Osmo "home" app in Freetime. For now she plays it on my account on her Fire tablet but I think that is something that hopefully will be fixed soon
