  • Not secure at all. Can twist open with my hand.
The media could not be loaded. Sorry but these locks are not secure at all. At least the two that I have. I use them for my carry-on Pelican 1510 case. There are small commuter flights where we have to check carry-ons at the plane and they are loaded and unloaded there on the tarmac. Numerous times I've had my case unloaded with the locks unlocked but no indicator showing that they had been opened with a key. Besides, these are plane-side baggage checks so there isn't even TSA present, just baggage handlers. Yes, one of them could have a key but nothing has ever been missing. Upon further testing, I can literally just twist this lock off of the case. I don't know the proper terms but the bolt does not sit far enough into the metal cup thing to keep it from twisting out. I'm guessing that as the bags are being loaded, the locks are being smashed between the other bags and this torques the locks and pops them open. As an added bonus, once the locks are popped open like this, it is very difficult to get them to release after you enter the proper code. I'm guessing because the internals are lined up correctly because it is difficult to force the bolt back into the metal cup. These might work better on suitcases where you are putting the lock on a zipper or something that isn't quite as rigid as a hard sided case but everyone should be aware of this issue. Edit: Added a short video showing how easily you can twist these off. Update: While I was disappointed in the locks, I can say that I am pleased so far with the customer service. After reading a few more reviews, I sent an email to TravelMore late last night and I was pleased to see an email in my inbox first thing this morning. They offered to replace or refund my purchase. Encouraged by their responsiveness, I will give them another shot. I may try these locks again or try a set of their cable locks that have a little more flexibility on a hard case. ... show more

  • Easy to set the code and use them
Size: 4 Pack Color: Orange
This is the second time I am purchasing this type of lock. They do the job. Setting the code is very easy per the instructions included with the locks. These are TSA approved locks. If TSA opens your luggage with these locks on, apparently the TSA symbol embossed on the lock will pop up! I have not experienced this so far in my travels. It's a nice way to know when TSA has opened your luggage for inspection. It's good to be able to lock your luggage with some type of lock particularly for international travel and this fits the bill. Only negative is that the numbers are embossed with black border and it's kinda hard to distinguish 0 from 9 etc at night or in poor lighting. I don't have issues with sight, I don't currently wear glasses or contacts. I think improving the visibility or size of numbers would make this even a better product. ... show more

  • These worked out great on our trip to Europe
Size: 4 Pack Color: Orange
These worked out great on our trip to Europe. On our flight home, TSA did open two of our suitcases. The Alert indicator was popped up on one of the locks when we retreived our suitcases and the second lock was missing from the other suitcase. We found it in the suitcase when we got home and it appears to have been broken by TSA. It was stuck open in the unlock position and we were unable to close it. We emailed the company to see if they had any ideas on how to fix it and to our surpise, they just offered a replacement. What a great company, excellent customer service, Thank You! ... show more

  • Instructions / Website / Email Provided Not Correct. Here's What You Need to Know to Set a New Combo
There's a couple things you need to know right away: --- The instructions that come with the lock are not correct --- The link to a video given in the instructions doesn't exist (the video is supposed to be a step-by-step guide on how to set a new combo) --- The email address given in the instructions doesn't exist (use Amazon's "Contact Seller" function to get an email to the right recipient) I found these things out the hard way because I couldn't figure out how to set a new combo on my lock using the instructions. Eventually I did figure it out. Here's what you need to do (I've provided some pictures, which hopefully should help). 1) Set the combination to 000, then pull up on the shackle to unlock 2) Rotate the shackle 90 degrees counter-clockwise so that the shackle is lined up with the hole / notch located there (the instructions tell you to rotate 180 degrees - this is wrong) 3) Push down on the shackle as far as it will go, then rotate the shackle until it's 180 degrees 4) Set your new combo 5) Pull the shackle all the way up 6) Your new combo is now set. Test by repeatedly pushing & pulling the shackle down in the lock to make sure it's not locking. This lock works perfectly now that I figured out how to set a new combo. The shackle portion is thin enough to slide through the luggage's main compartment zippers. And I love the fact that there's an telltale indicator to let you know if the TSA opened your bag (by the way, when your bag is inspected, the TSA is supposed to leave a notice in your bag - but this is never a guarantee, which is why it's nice to have another way to tell). The lock is NOT going to stop someone who is bound and determined to open your bag; the purpose of the lock is to be a deterrent and it does that function well. The whole assembly is made well. There's just a little bit of slack on the shackle when this is locked. Other than that slight movement, there's nothing that jiggles or sounds loose. It's not too heavy nor too light. I also like the color (bright orange), which will make it easier for me to spot my bag when on the carousel. Overall, I'm very pleased with the lock. I'll be buying a few more of these. I hope you found this review useful. I was able to purchase this item at a substantial discount in exchange for a thorough and honest review. All observations and comments are my own. Please don't hesitate to leave your comments or to ask me questions. ... show more

  • Too difficult to read the combination numbers
Size: 6 Pack Color: Orange
These are good, solid locks. But, we had a lot of trouble seeing the numbers to open the locks when we arrived at our destination at night. We tried our iPhone light, and it just reflected and we still could not read the numbers. We finally carried the luggage into the tiny bathroom under a bright light. Still hard to read, but at least we got the bags open. We had bought other locks from same manufacture at the same time with black and white numbers and they were easy to read and also easier to set up for first time use. Don't get these locks unless you have super eagle eyes. ... show more
