This is a fun costume for kids. The fabric is light and thin, but durable so it doesn't tear. The battery pack and the fan are connected by a cord, which does get unplugged every once in a while if you're not careful. This self-inflating dinosaur costume is awesome! Your purchase includes the costume, a built-in fan, battery pack (x4 AA batteries not included), and a carry bag. Once you've unpacked it, make sure you pull out the battery pack and load the 4 AA batteries (not included). My battery pack had a spot for a small screw, but I didn't see a screw included, so it is just clipped in there with the plastic battery cover clip. That should be fine, since the battery pack slides into an elastic pocket that holds it securely. Don't turn it on yet: it does not need any extra time to inflate it before you are ready to wear it. When your child is ready to wear it, you just slide their bottom half into the costume, putting their feet through the dino's rear feet holes that are just elastic bands that stretch around the ankles. That means they can wear this with any kind of foot wear. Shoes may still be visible under the shoe covers. Turn the "on" switch on the battery pack to start the fan, then tighten the elastic waist cord so that no air can get out. As long as the feet are in both ankle holes and you've tightened the waist cord, the dino will inflate fully in less than a minute. It's quite impressive when it is fully inflated. When you're finished, it fits nicely into the included carry bag. It is very easy to move around in the costume, and there is a convenient strap (reins) that allow you to easily lift the front of the dino, if your child needs to go up stairs or make sure the front legs clear an obstacle. My 8-year-old son was also able to wear it and walk around comfortably, though his feet stuck out the bottom quite far which ruins the illusion. I have not yet been able to get my 2.5-year-old to try it on, but I suspect it would be perfect for the suggested ages of 2-4, plus any 5- or 6-year-olds who are on the smaller side. Overall, this is a really cool costume for a fair price. It's easy to use, fun to wear, and I'm sure it will be a big hit on Halloween! 5 stars! ... show more

I like this dinosaur costume. My 5 year old was thrilled to try this out and he had a lot of fun running around in the yard while wearing it. He is around 48" tall and it was mostly just the right size for him. Our 8 year old neighbor tried it also and she is several inches taller than my son. Her legs stuck out more at the bottom and when she tried the adult size of a similar costume we had, it seemed to fit her better than this child sized version. My only complaint about this is that the front legs on the dinosaur are easy to trip on. It was difficult for my 5 year old to keep the reins pulled up enough to keep the front legs from touching the ground. I actually don't think the reins would have worked to pull the legs up anyway. Overall, it is a great little costume. It doesn't get hot because the fan keeps air pumping into the costume to keep it inflated. This one does not come with a matching camo safari cap like our adult one did. ... show more

This is a fantastic costume toy for a young child. It is super cute, and the recipient had SO much fun playing in it that the normally moody and sad goodbye became an "Okay. Bye." while they trotted around their yard laughing and playing makebelieve. The child puts it on when deflated, and the enclosed fan quickly inflates the costume much to the delight of the child. Be sure to tell them what will happen first so that they don't get scared; our recipient did not get scared at all. The child's legs go into the back legs of the dinosaur quite easily, and though going upstairs and sitting at desks or tables can be a challenge, it is otherwise easy to maneuver around. They do bump into things though, but it is fairly soft like a blow-up outdoor decoration. If used for school, be prepared for them to take it off during class time. Luckily, it is super easy to take on and off/inflate and deflate so a child can wear it with minimal help. It is perfect for your young dinosaur lover. It fulfills the fantasy of riding a dinosaur that I think we all hoped for as children. Be sure to have your own 4 AA batteries ready to install into this one when you open the box for the first time because your young one will not be able to contain their excitement. ... show more

Do you want to laugh? Then get your kid to wear this! My son had a blast being a Dinoboy (cowboy). We live in a colder area where snow is ever the possibility. This costume allows one to suit up and still show off an awesome costume. It's light weight and the fan is not too loud. I want to add lights to help stand out at night as it gets dark here quick, but we will see. If your kid loves dinosaurs I highly recommend! ... show more

We got this for our friends childs 8th birthday and it was A HIT! Easy to put batteries in. And it inflated very quickly. There is elastic around the waist to keep it air tight. And the head/ neck placement for the dinosaur is the perfect height for a kid. The inflatable legs on the saddle worked well and sold the illusion that the kid is riding the dinosaur. And the tail is curled around to the left to keep it from sweeping anything off low tables. Our little friend loved wearing his and rode it around the yard, thoroughly enjoying the illusion that he was riding a pet dinosaur! Total success! ... show more
