  • Nice boots Nice boots
Size: 10.5 Color: Black
Love the boot fit. Very light weight and creates stability on my ankles. No new boot foot pains whatsoever so ever . 10/10.

  • Good Quality, comfy thick heel, but sizing seems off. Good Quality, comfy thick heel, but sizing seems off.
Giving five stars due to the quality and feel. Lightweight, sturdy, comfortable. Have only worn for about a week though so can't speak to longevity of the shoe. Sizing: Not removing any stars for this, but the sizing seemed weird to me. I am a woman who normally wears women's size 8.5 or 9. I first ordered the men's size 7, (which normally corresponds to a women's 8.5) and they were HUGE. Like a women's size 10, way too big all around. I exchanged for a men's size 6.5 (which normally corresponds to a women's 8), but this time they were true to size! Unfortunately for me, that means they fit small on my foot as men's 6.5/women's 8 is not my usual size. I'm keeping them anyways as they are close enough, but I do feel it on my big toe nail the fact that I don't have much toe room in front like I would normally wear. Zipper + Laces: Also adding a photo of an alternate tying method that has been working for me. (Note that I am not military and just wear these casually, so not sure if military would allow tying laces like this or not.) Leave the top bow tied all the time, use the zipper to loosen shaft, then have a second tie across the ankle that you tie/untie every time. I do this as the zipper does not go far down enough to use the zipper alone unless your laces are super loose, but pulling the laces on this shoe never seemed to get it tight enough across my ankle until I added the second ankle bow. ... show more

  • Great boots great price.
Size: 13 Wide Color: Coyote
I have really wide feet. These boots come and they’re already broken in. They are a little loose in the heel area, but I don’t find that to be a problem. They are breathable very comfortable and extremely light. This is the second pair of boots I’ve bought from this company. The first pair I bought was a pair of the hiking boots. Would definitely be buying from this company again. I have been wearing these for months and they wear very well. ... show more

  • Great Comfort and Style but Hot
Size: 12 Color: Sand
After 8 years of daily wearing a pair of 5.11, 6 inch boots I decided to semi retire them and, after reading many reviews, I decided to purchase the Nortive 8 inch boots, primarily because they were lightweight. After I received them, I finished lacing them up and wore them for a couple of inside my house. After two days, I contemplated returning them because they were much wider even though the size 12 I chose wasn’t described being wide. But, after using over the calf cotton boot socks I decided to keep them. Overall, the quality appears to be very good. The seams are tight with no dangling threads and the zippers operate fairly smoothly. They are almost as light as the 5.11, 6 inch boots in spite of being 2 inches taller. I’ve been wearing them for three days now and can confidently say that they’re very comfortable for all day wear. While they do fit my current needs, there’s a few things that I don’t like. I typically wear an 11.5 medium but, Nortive didn’t offer half sizes so the only option was to upsize to the 12. They do list a “Wide” option but no medium. The speed lacing eyes are too narrow to accommodate 550 paracord which is my choice for replacement laces. The eyes are also thin and are prone to falling. I’ve experienced this on a few pairs of boots while lacing them up. These boots also lack adequate ventilation and are hot to wear. I’m a retired paramedic and have been wearing duty boots for 30 years and never had a problem with sweaty feet until wearing these boots. The Nortiv’s have ventilation holes but offer no air exchange. I will try wool boot socks to see if they make a difference. My synopsis is they’re well made, comfortable for all day wear although they have poor ventilation, they’re easy to put on and remove using the zippers and, offer good ankle support. For the price, they’re a good value. Only time will tell if they’re durable. ... show more

  • These did it for me.
Size: 12 Color: Black
I work as a Paramedic in Colorado. I have gone through a lot of boots. The company issues 511 and for three seasons they are fine, Some below 30 days you nee wool socks. But for summer, being at this altitude the sun is intense. I have used jungle boots, cool but hurt my feet after 12 hour shifts. These boots though, are very breathable. (surprisingly) I wasn't sold om them, being I have gone through so many (breathable) boots in the 35 years of service. These boots with cool Bamboo cushen socks are the ticket. 12W fits with good air circulation. Tie them tight the first day then back off to a looser fit for air movement. I was a Marine and found out early not to use the eyelets across the ankle. The tongue will eat you up. I did put an extra thin foot bed in dur to my arch. ABSOLUTLY OUTSTANDING!!!! after that. The normal shoe is very comfortable. I just fine tuned it. The socks help in the heat, Thicker ones when it is colder outside. Bipolar Colorado means you have to have options. I am very happy with this perches. My other recordation was from a soldier friend who said Oakley's were his go to in Afghanistan for rear time. ... show more

  • Lightweight Boots That Wanted Me to Walk Downhill All Day Lightweight Boots That Wanted Me to Walk Downhill All Day
Size: 9 Color: Black
I had fairly realistic expectations going into these NORTIV 8 tactical boots. At under $60, I wasn't expecting handcrafted, full-grain leather masterpieces stitched together by a bootmaker who's been perfecting the craft since 1890. For the price point, some compromises are expected. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight they are. Many tactical or work boots feel like you're carrying around two small cinder blocks attached to your feet. These are noticeably lighter, making them comfortable to pick up, put on, and walk around in initially. Construction appears decent for the price. The sole is glued to the upper rather than stitched, which isn't unusual in this price range. If you're expecting Goodyear welting, hand-stitching, or premium construction methods, you'll need to add another zero to the price tag. The adhesive bond looked clean on my pair, and overall they seem reasonably durable for everyday use. One thing I couldn't determine was whether the leather is actually genuine leather. The listing references leather, but the tag inside my boots didn't clearly indicate the material composition. That doesn't necessarily mean it isn't leather, but I would have appreciated more transparency regarding the materials used. Now for the issue that ultimately made these boots a deal breaker for me. When standing naturally, the boots seem to place your foot at a slight forward angle. Unless I consciously shifted most of my weight onto my heels, my feet wanted to slide toward the front of the boot. It felt as though I was perpetually standing on a very gentle downhill slope. After a while, I found myself paying more attention to keeping my feet positioned correctly than enjoying the boots themselves. Some people may not notice this, and foot shape certainly varies from person to person, but for me it was impossible to ignore. A boot can have decent construction, look good, and be reasonably priced, but if I'm constantly negotiating with gravity inside the boot, it's not a long term winner. Overall, these boots offer decent value for the money, are lightweight, and appear durable enough for casual use. However, the forward sliding fit was a deal breaker for me. If your feet and gait happen to work well with the boot's shape, you may be perfectly happy. Mine, unfortunately, felt like they were training for a ski slope. ... show more
